Newsworthy or Noteworthy Posts?

You guys do a phenomenal job running this site. I've tried to frequent other message boards and was easily deterred by the disorganization and having to sift through all of the shit-talking to find any posts of value. This site is leaps and bounds ahead of them and has continued to improve upon itself in my brief tenure here at BP.

I have a small suggestion for something that I think would be very useful, though I don't know how feasible it even is.

Most times I check in on BP to enjoy some Buckeye chatter, and listen to the nonsense this crew of degenerates spews all day. But there are select times when I come looking for news and updates on our beloved Buckeyes or other tasty tidbits from around the world of college football.

These are times where typically I look for stuff grad has posted, because, to me, he's the most consistent source of inside info on this site. But there are other members who often bring to light valuable information that has not yet been brought to the mainstream media's attention.

This is why I was wondering if there could be some kind of system in which a post can be flagged as "Newsworthy" or "Noteworthy" and you could just see a list of the most recent posts deemed so. The system could be something like the GPA where a mod deems it so, or it could be something like a rep system, where when 5 or so members deem a post newsworthy, it is awarded that status.

I'm not familiar with the inner workings of this site, so if this is a lot of work, and not nearly worth the benefits it would provide, feel free to delete this thread altogether. I just thought this might be something easy to do that could even further enhance the BP experience.

One thing that might be helpful is to try the Search > Find All Awarded Posts feature. While it isn't free of silliness, it's still a great way to spot some of the most interesting and insightful posts around.

While, I do enjoy that, there are a lot of updates with the team as far as depth chart shakeups and injury updates that don't quite fit under the GPA status. Maybe perhaps something as easy as a different award to those posts would work?

The player threads and most things in the Buckeye football forum are generally free from nonsense. As far as more general team updates, try the 2008 Offense Discussion thread or the 2008 Defense Discussion thread. They tend to stay free from inane chatter.

As a result, those threads suck.

Try the RWSF thread instead. Full of useful tidbits and vitally important information.
