Great get for the Cavaliers IMO.

I am not sure if his style will fit into the style of the ACC. He and Bo Ryan are made of the same cloth. He might win but it will be like going to the dentist. The Wolfpack had this same problem when Herb Sendick was there.

Bennett will win at Virginia. It helps him that his style differs from the rest of the league; they won't be used to opposing the slowdown.

Sendek won consistently at NCState; winning was the least of his problems. He has the personality of wallpaper.

After finishing dead last in the ACC I suspect Cavalier fans would be happy to win in any way, shape or form.

He can win recruiting to the strengths of UVA as a premier academic institution. This is a job you need a different wrinkle with. You're not going to beat Wake/Duke/Stanford for the elite academic recruits. You're not going to out talent people there. Building a veteran team and playing hard nosed defense with a disciplined offense is probably the way to go. Even with the new arena this still isn't a premier job in BCS.

This could be a very good hire for Virginia. I could see Bennett turning them into the UW of the ACC.

He did a fine job at WSU and his style of disciplined, in your face defense and motion, hard nosed ball control offense added to the recruiting style of UW, getting 4-5 year guys to buy into your system and play their [censored]'s off every night could get them in the top half of the ACC and challenging for a shot at the conference title every once and a while.

That should be enough to keep the fans happy, but will it, or are their expectations too high?
