If somebody out there has the balls to vote USC #3, I give them kudos for it. USC has a shitty defense, I and I think there are a few good teams that could beat them.

So what if LSU lost to a 4-7 team at home. That was their first home game after the hurricane. I don't hold that loss against them any more than I hold PSU's loss against them. And hey, it's not as if they got horsewhipped on their own field like Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University did.

Now we'll have to wait and see if the moron's that make up the harris poll will follow suit.

I say no way, they had ND the highest of all the polls.

Nah, the Harris Poll will move ND up and bring Stanford into the polls at #23, afterall they actually have someone dumb enough to vote for Vandy...they have 2 points in alst week'd poll, and they're 5 and 6...just ended a 5 game losing streak against a terrible Tennesee team

I agree that there are a few teams out there that could beat USC. However, I know that I would be livid if tOSU went through the season undefeated and some poll ranked a 1 loss team ahead of us simply b/c their voters hypothetically think that we'd lose to a few of those teams. My view is that if you can go undefeated in a major conference, you deserve a shot at the NC, unless two other big conference teams also go undefeated, in which case you have to look at other things. I'm not saying that you're wrong b/c maybe I am; I just disagree, that's all.

very good news on the Harris Poll front.

Theyactually sacked up and corrected the ND bullshit, dropping them the proper 2 slots to 7th and jumping VT up to 5.

It will be interesting to see how close to VT we are in the BCS now.

last week we were .050 points ahead of 7th place Oregon. we were .053 points behind 4th place LSU... i think there's a decent chance that we will be #5 in the BCS tomorrow... and there is a chance of getting to #4 if Georgia beats LSU, even though Va Tech beats the Noles... (boy do the Noles SUCK!)

Exactly the point I was tring to make earlier, just much more clearly stated.

Bottom line is the jump to 6 in all human polls could put us at BCS #5.

If thats the case then we'll only need the UGA/LSU game to go our way instead of both the ACC and SEC CCgames. I like those odds much better.

I don't totally disagree. I think if USC finishes undefeated, they deserve to play for the championship. However, the voters should not be complete automatons. If somebody out there thinks there's a one-loss team that's better than USC, they should vote their conscience.

I wouldn't be going nuts. It doesn't matter at this point. Either USC or Texas lose and they're in the Rose, or they go to the Fiesta or Orange Bowl. being 3rd or 4th in the AP/Coaches is meaningless.

But it's kind of the same with us and Notre Dame. It's most likely going to be us playing Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl but we still want the respect of being ranked ahead of them. I would be a little pissed if I was a Penn St. fan because Penn St. lost on a last second play at Michigan but LSU lost at home to Tennessee and barely beat Arkansas at home which is the same team that lost to USC 70-17.

You gotta' feel bad for Oregon fans though. I understand Ohio St. being ranked ahead but I don't think Notre Dame should. If you go back to the USC game for Notre Dame they had two weeks to prepare for them as opposed to Oregon who only had one week and was coming off a tough win against Fresno St. Oregon also blew out Stanford at Stanford and Notre Dame needed a touchdown in the last minute to beat them. Oh and one more thing, they have two losses and one of them was at home to Michigan St.

I know you stressed could, but I don't think there is any way we jump to #5 in the BCS. The reason why is the percentage of votes as explained in the BCS rankings:

"Team percentages are derived by dividing a team's actual voting points by a maximum 2850 possible points in the Harris Interactive Poll and 1550 possible points in the USA Today Coaches Poll."

Last week OSU had 1137 points in the USA Today poll this week 1162. Va Tech had 1277 last week and 1290 this week. We gained 25 votes whereas Va Tech gained 23 points. (There percentage gained is basically insignificant) The problem with overtaking Va Tech lies in the Harris Poll. Last week we had 2172 points and this week 2180. Va Tech had 2244 last week and 2313 this week. We only gained 8 points in the Harris Poll whereas Va Tech gained 69 points. So I believe that this week's BCS may show that Va Tech is a little further ahead of OSU this week than last week.
