So, in recognition of the desire to keep BP a free site while maintaining a highly organized thread structure yet minimizing trolls, how about the following.

Free sign up / membership but 24 hour period prior to first post and 72 before first thread creation.

If someone wants to post instantly it will cost them $24 - hours since sign up for that privilege. Same for new threads but $72 - hours since sign up.

While there are always good posters from other programs that make their way here, this would keep a lot of crap out of the threads... The trolls would just move on. The good ones would stick it out a day to contribute.

Simpler way is to just swing a swift banhammer and send a bill to get un-banned. The Catholic Church ran that business model for hundreds of years (indulgences).
