New destructive malware is cyber super-weapon

Jimmy Carter

Admiring my Peace Prize
Very frightening what this can do.

Cyber security experts say they have identified the world's first known cyber super weapon designed specifically to destroy a real-world target ? a factory, a refinery, or just maybe a nuclear power plant.

The cyber worm, called Stuxnet, has been the object of intense study since its detection in June. As more has become known about it, alarm about its capabilities and purpose have grown. Some top cyber security experts now say Stuxnet's arrival heralds something blindingly new: a cyber weapon created to cross from the digital realm to the physical world ? to destroy something..........

Wow that's crazy...now I have a question, if it's infected allthese different systems, but it's only looking for 1 target, wouldn't the developers of this "missle" have to know how the system it is attacking be put together, etc. And if that's the case and it's only attacking one location, that means it would have a different system from the others it's already affected? So if it is in fact attacking an industrial site, wouldn't it attack multiple ones if these sites use the same system?
