Anybody notice how awesome Schlegel is? He's the real deal! I have a friend from PSU who was pissed the day he transfered from Air Force to OSU. He looked at me and said, "I know he's going kick our ass." He was right.

Nearly everyone on this board was predicting he was going to be all-conference. Yet, he started off fairly slowly, and that (along with the significant improvement in D'Andrea's performance) had him on the bench...and some folks started rethinking their predictions. But now that he's catching on to Big Ten style football and has shaken off the two years worth of no-game-time rust, he's turned into an excellent MLB, and could be the best MLB in conference heading into next season.

The key to "dominating" OSU defenses has always been a stellar middle LB'er. We have had more than our share of DB's but it starts with that Mike backer. Now granted some of the times our LB'ers were apparently stellar, its because a couple guys on the DL were great as well.

That said I would say Schlegel has a decent shot at pre-season all america honors. Definitely will garner B10 honors next season if he gets the snaps.

Datish has got to be the most dissappointing lineman on the team. He and Schafer spend most of their time in our backfield.:mad1:

This is just their first year as starters. I think they'll both improve alot in the next 3 years. Some players can just come in and play early. Look at Steve Rhering. Arguably(sp) the least heralded of last years ol recruits and he's in the process of getting considerable pt. and playing well.

On a related note, I'm going to Harding Sat. night to watch Alex Boone. He's amazingly huge and agile for his age. He looks like a professional compared to the other players.
