Defense still wins Championships
So I get this call on a laptop that keeps shutting itself down, presumably overheating. The fans weren't spinning at all, so that seemed to be logical. I tore it apart to see if I could repair the fans and..... look what I found!
Surprisingly, nothing had been permanently damaged, and the machine is up and running again. Our conclusion is that the penny was just shorting something out. Once it was removed, the circuitry was returned to normal.
No word on how it got in there, except maybe they jammed it thru the keyboard gap or into the PCMCIA slot. Grandkids should stay away from work computers...
