Am I the only one who absolutely hates the retro designs? The cars look good, but thats not the issue. First of all, it screams "running out of ideas," and second, it diminishes the original article. The classic Mustangs, Camaro's, and Challengers no longer retain their unique style cause the design is reused and becomes commonplace with mass production. The biggest and probably the last bit of cache that the American car companies have over imports is their amazing classics and now they're killing the value of those classics with these new cars.

So you like the Caddilac SRT that looks like orgami on wheels? Or the Pontiac Vibe? Or the Flash Gordon tailights that Nissan and Toyota introduced?

To each his own, but, as they used to say about Marge Schott, if I had a dog that ugly I'd shave its ass and make it walk backwards.

It must be about time to remake Bullitt.

I hate all of those cars. I never said all new designs were better...in fact most of them suck. I just think GM, Chrysler, and Ford should go easy on the retro styling.

I don't mind the lines of the camero (that's not to say I like it, I don't dislike it), although I don't like the interior...

The GTO's were a flop... You can already find used '04 models for under $20k with little miles (15k miles). The '05/'06 has a redesigned back end, along with a little scoop in the front (for astetics, doesn't effect performance). If prices continue to drop like a rock in water, I might pick one up in a year or two. It has the Vette's 6.0L 400hp engine... It would be hard to "pass" on the toy If I found one in a year or two for around $15k... auto insurance would be the only hangup imo. Not the best looking by any stretch, but dollar per horsepower would be tough to say no to :wink2: ...

The Camaro, looks tough, but if it's anything like the camaro's of the last 24 years.... it's an underpowered dog

say again over? you do know they didn't stop making them in the 80's right? might have even made a "few" engine modifications over the years...

They are both good looking cars. I like the way they both retro'd the body design. I thought that the paint scheme on the callenger was more appealing, but imagine the Camaro in Hugger Orange with the black rally stripes. This car will not be a dog. 400 horse with a 6 speed, C'mon! I am just drooling thinking about that! This car would ANNIHILATE the new 'Stangs. What are they, a little over 300 horse?

i wouldn't overlook the cobra's if i were you... an sc'd 4.6L is pretty beefy. its nothing to get them to the 400hp range. if your referring only to the gt's then yeah. the gt's are just now getting to the point where they can beat 93 era camaro's. it seems ford had little desire to best the camaro performance wise over the last 10 years. which isn't surprising seeing how they handed chevy their collective asses in the sales dept with a significantly inferior vehicle performance wise. in such a situation... why change?

Until I see the specs on the Challenger, the jury is out, but right now I would take the Camaro. That is a bad-ass car. Pardon me while I daydream about driving it

ive always been a huge fan of the challenger (was my fav growing up). my only hope is dodge stays in the pony car market and this isn't a limited model year vehicle. which is what it will likely be. seeing as how they are putting hemi's in pretty much everything currently, anything less would shock me.

but i think id go with the camaro. the lsx family of engines from chevy are absolutely amazing. nothing else comes close in n/a form as far as price, size + weight, simplicity, capability, performance, and efficiency.
