do you think scalpers would have 3 together?

If one of you is willing to sit 'alone' (has anybody ever felt alone in the Shoe?) I would strongly recommend it. Groups of four are rarer and much more expensieve. Singles are the cheapes of all and you can sometimes land a really good seat that way.

The purpose (supposedly) of the upgrade is that when you buy the tix as an employee or a student, you get them at a big discount off the full price ticket. They figure if a non-student/ non employee is going to use the tix, then they should pay the same price as a full price ticket.

That is correct. My tickets are third party faculty tix also and - although I wouldn't suggest they aren't already making all the money they need - it is fair. I have no argument that I am entitled to a discount the rest of the general public doesn't get.

Also, if a family member is using the tickets they can get a special ID that entitles them to use the discounted ticket. And for a pair of tickets only one person needs to have such an ID.

Has anybody here ever tried to:

1. wake up your wife at 6:00 am (when she works at 9:00)
2. talk to her about football
3. convince her that buying $1000 season OSU tickets is a must-do situation based on going to games and still making money on extra tickets?

Not as easy as it sounds. :P

So I sent the seller this e-mail before I venture on.

Three questions.
1. Do you take Paypal?
2. When are the tickets actually shipped, being they haven't been mailed out yet.
3. How did you get a hold of OSU football tickets, all the way in the U.K. (if you don't mind me asking)?

I believe eBay's insurance only covers a very small amount (up to $500 is what my brain is telling me, but who can trust that.)

Those Ebay tickets smell bad. The red flag is the fact he claims he knows where his seats are. I have faculty/staff tickets and we don't know where our seats are until we get them in the mail a few weeks before the first game... seems fishy to me...

For those with faculty/staff tickets if you want to upgrade the tickets so anybody can use them on a game by game basis, remember you cannot do it on game day, and it has to be done the week of the game. The do charge a processing fee (each time if you do it game by game to upgrade).

The upgraded tickets ARE different... last year they didn't do this for faculty/staff...

I bought the Faculty/Staff split season tickets which included the Texas, MSU, and Illinois games. I am going to the TX game but probably will be selling the other two. I am not sure where they will be but keep me in mind if anyone is looking for MSU or Illini tickets.

DON'T DO IT!!
DON'T DO IT!!
DON'T DO IT!!

i ALMOST go scammed last year from a guy overseas. it was almost exactly the same auction. the most important thing to think about: if it seems to good to be true, it probably isn't.

ask him why he is requesting you to contact him directly and not via ebay? that is a huge red flag IMO.

ask him detailed questions about the upgrade fees. that is a unique situation at OSU. if he can't answer them, he is probably a scammer.

ask him if you can pay him for the first game, have him send you the first game's tix, then complete the entire transaction after the first game. he may agree, but if he's scamming you are only out the price for 1 game.

if he wants you to western union it, it is 100%, w/o a doubt a scam. there is no way to track where the money goes or who picks it up. paypal is the way to go, even on transactions within the US.

good luck.

This is most likely a scam. I have traded 5 emails with the "seller", and as of 5 minutes ago he is offering to negotiate a price less than the winning bid price on these same tickets. He wants the money sent via Western Union. Hello!!!

The bidding has been reopened for anybody who is interested.

Try, try again

nation27,

That was geared towards STX's comment. Last year they didn't have upgrade tickets for the faculty/staff (only student tickets), so last year anybody would enter the stadium with a faculty/staff ticket.

This year there are two different tickets (they don't look the same) for faculty/staff. There are the "upgraded" tickets that anybody and use, and there are the discounted tickets that only the faculty/staff person can use.
