Need Help - Gameday Festivities

the_woodster

man about town
My fiance and I will be attending our first OSU game this weekend and wanted to know what spots to hit. We do not have tickets to the game, so we will be watching it from the Varsity Club. I want to watch the Skull Session and catch the Gameday crew, but would like to know from the fans that actually get to go to the games. We are also going to try and catch the OSU men's game against E. Kentucky on Friday night. Any info would be awesome.

Thanks in advance and GO BUCKS!!!

You might want to go straight from the Gameday broadcast to St. John Arena (Gameday will be set up right in front of SJA) to make sure you get seats for the skull session. I wouldn't be surprised if it was full by 12:30-12:45.
Just go somewhere before Gameday and enjoy some keg's n eggs...looks like it won't be too cold so it'll be a nice morning for that.

I've always had a great time watching the game indoors at Damon's in Upper Arlington, although its been a few years. They keep the atmosphere in there similar to a game with the chants and cheering plus you get to sit down eat good food and hear the play by play. I am one who definitely likes to see the ENTIRE game including replays and hear what is being said. I tend to analyze everything though. If you just want fun atmosphere and dont necessarily care about hearing all the plays and other stuff, I'd stick with Hineygate.

do they ever open the gates in the 4th?

No. Especially not this weekend. However, in 2004, the ushers left their posts at the end of the game to help with on field security. As a result, fans without tickets were able to get in the stadium and down onto the field. I know of some people who joined in on the on field post game festivities in this way. It's worth a try I would think.

In 2002, I know they opened up the Schott and played the game in there. I'm sure they'll be doing that again this year if you were interested in watching it with a ton of other Buckeyes. You'll likely have to get there early but it could be worth it.

First as for the basketball game on friday nite, you will have no problem walking up and getting tickets. Then you will probably be able to move down and get better seats than the ones you paid for. If not at least you are there and can see the new guys play.

As for Gameday I would reccomend getting there at least 2 hours b4 it starts unless you don't mind standing clear in the back and then having trouble hearing anything that is going on...

I agree that if you can just makes friends with some people at a tailgate with a tv and just chill with some folks.

I do not know if they are planning anything, but I believe they had a big screen tv set up for the Texas game outside the schott.
