Need Bachelor Party Ideas in Columbus

IronBuckI

Calmer than you are.
I'm the best man in my buddy's wedding so it's on me to throw a good bachelor party. Problem is, his dad, and a couple of his uncles are going to be there, so I think that any stripper ideas have to be thrown out. It's also supposed to rain this weekend, so going downtown, and barhopping/raising hell is also in question. All of the guys, with the exception of the old folk, are in their late twenties, so I don't even think that some of the kiddie shit that we used to do would work either. I live in Dayton, and Columbus has changed quite a bit since I lived there. So, if any of you guys have some good ideas for things to do, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks,

By definition if the groom's father is attending the bachelor party it is no longer a bachelor party.

Is the funding available to rent a bus or over-size limo and travel around downtown that way? (Probably too late for this weekend.)

Even if it's going to rain you could go downtown. Brothers/Gaswerks/Lodge Bar/Blues Station/Spice...so many bars in a 1/10 mile radius that you could go to without much risk in the arena district...and yes having the grooms father there pretty much eliminates the title "Bachelor Party"

The last bachelor party I was at, both the bride's and the groom's dads were there-and that didn't stop us from partying our asses off, and going to one of the sleaziest strip clubs I have ever seen -The Brass Ass in Covington,Ky-the dads were partying as much as anyone. I guess you just have to know the personalities in advance.

rent a bus... was the best one I ever attended...

first whistle... ya got 10 minutes to finish drink or rap...
second... two whistles... 2 minutes to liftoff...down it and get phone #s...
third.. three bursts... bus is outta here... and onto the next one...

FUN is officially OVER... do the bus and intentionally do the quick whistle to ensure you leave them behind

My father-in-law and brother-in-law were both at my bachelor party. I did not think anything of it at the time. Afterwards that went running home and told my wife everything that had happened. She was cool about everything (note - always have friends around who do dumber stuff than you) and I learned I could not trust those two.

Thanks,

First question... Why are his dad and uncles going to be there? Did you invite them? You're the best man right?-- ahh... nevermind.

Second... I've been through the Dad/Dad-in-Law Issue before. Thing with those guys is they usually don't want to stay out all night... after all they're old.... and probably have some kind of chores scheduled for 5:30am the next morning... so you have to beat them down, wear them out and get rid of them.

So... here's what I'd do... (The Bus/Van/Limo thing is and excellent idea by the way). ANd you should hav gottne with us before 2 days in advance... I could have given you six ways to shake these guys... but the first key is to start this even as early in the day as possible... do something non drinking related that the groom would like... Golf... Kart Racing... whatever... then I'd try to have that over by like 6pm... then Have a cookout at someone's house... Dad's love that shit... it tires them out too, because they like to help with stuff... at this point... they are going to either complain about the fact that there isn't a stripper or that you haven't gone to a strip club-- (where upon you just go-- hell that might be the reason they are going.)... or they are going to say nothing.. .in which case you're going to have to shake them... if you start early enough.. they'll be gone by 9. (This is tough though... last time we had to shake a Dad and Dad-in-Law, we got rid of them 20 minutes before 3 guys got arrested... ahhh... Its not a bachelor Party until the police show up... )

The only other problem I can see is if they invited themsleves along for the purpose of chauffering you guys around... then you need to get rid of that reason.

Anyway... more time next time Iron.. More time. :wink2:

Sounds like AKAK knows his shit. I would draw on my personal experience from my own bachelor party, but everyone in attendance (except the prostitutes, er, I mean, strippers) signed a blood pact that we would never speak of it again.

Besides, it is too late for you. Two days is not enough warning to have more than a "kick-ass" bachelor party. If I had even a week, I could have arranged more of a "holy fuckin' shit that was so much fun by balls hurt" time for you...but alas, no warning. Sorry about your luck.

AKAK, I say we round up a bunch of these so-called party animals and have a bachelor party. We'll just travel all over hell and half of Georgia, and every stop we make, a different person can be the "bachelor".

Get a bus and go to Windsor, no way they are gonna want to go that far away and get back that late.

At my brothers party we hired 2 girls who liked to work on each other (I highly recommend this) . My Brothers future father-in-law, and a couple of his future brother-in-laws stayed and watched all the action from the front row. Our own father however, showed up a little late. He walked up right in the middle of the "action", took a look over the people at what was going on, and turned around and walked back out. He was at the party for a total of about 45 seconds. Even the brides father thought he was a pussy.:)

While I reccomend this too... its not always easy to put together 48hrs out... I may have some phone numbers at home though. :wink2:

Always a good scam to run.

That's why I suggested Windsor. You can see some pretty freaky stuff up there, without any advance planning. Plus with the exchange rate the beers only cost about 7$ instead of 10.:wink2:

That's what I told my buddy. Didn't know about the dad thing until last weekend. I've been racking my brain all week trying to think of something. Obviously I came up with jack shit. That's why I came to you guys. I really like the bus idea. The dad did have a triple by-pass about a year ago, so fatigue should kick in fairly early. I think that I'm going to go ahead, and find out about a bus, and we'll go downtown. After the dad craps out, then we'll have to head to one of the finer establishments that Columbus has to offer. I've been told to do either Excalibur or Solid Gold. Any suggestions there?

Windsor was out of the question from the word go. Unless it was just going to be me and the groom going. Everyone else, is kind of flaky as far as getting plans together that involves them leaving their little comfort zone of Columbus, Ohio.
