Game Thread Nebraska @ Ohio State - 11/03/18, 12:00PM (FOX)

Random Thoughts
Nebraska is better than their record shows
We turned the ball over three times that resulted in 14 points. Another turnover was in Nebraska end zone. 21 point swing.
We fumbled a few other times but recovered the ball.
Turnovers were our biggest enemy today.
Did better but still need to cut down on the penalties on D.
We may have found a star in the making with White at Safety. MVP on D
We need to do better stopping the run but much better with the LBs not crowding the line.
OL did really well today. Nebraska was blitzing like crazy. Did well in both run and pass pro
Finally found our running game! We won today because we could run the ball. Other than the win this was the best thing I saw today. Loved the jumbo package in the red zone.
Red Zone play improved significantly.
Love Dwayne but he could use another year before entering the draft. Still some things he can work on.
Dru is the best punter in CFB
Special teams were special today.
I feel better going into Lansing next week
Go Bucks!

Receivers need to catch the ball. There were quite a few bad drops today. McLaurin is only one I give any type of pass to cause he got hit early but he still has to make that catch.

Finally the shitshow is over. Unbelievable how bad this team is 9 games and a bye week into the season. They look like they're still trying to work basic things out in August.

Pros
  1. Got push from the OL and found a running game
  2. Brandon White

Cons
  1. LBs are non-existent for 90% of defensive snaps and the CBs are maybe a B at best.
  2. DL negates itself with 2+ offsides penalties every game
  3. Tackling has been, and continues to be garbage.
  4. No discipline when running to the ball. On the first few drives guys were in position to stop a play for short yardage and ran right by the ballcarrier.
  5. Haskins and the WRs looked out of rhythm all game. Haskins had his first bad game and the senior WRs continue to require most passes perfectly placed in order to not have 3+ drops. Meyer continues to think he needs to reinvent the wheel in order to have a good running and passing game without running the QB 20+ times.
  6. 0 offensive rythm. Passing game looks like it has about 7 different plays in the playbook, 4 of which are short crossing routes. Once a defense adjusts it's time for a quarter of 3 and outs.
  7. Little emotion and zero sense of urgency.
Team plays like a bunch of emotionless robots with faulty coding trying to do sprints on an ice rink. Game after game of the same fuckery since week 1. I think the team actually has less of an identity than it had in week 1.

Has anybody had any fun watching this shit team since Tulane?

The least fun I've ever had watching a team. At least in 2011 I had zero expectations. Fuck the defense. At least I expect that now and know it won't get better without coaching changes. But the offense. This year you have the most talented passer in school history, a deep WR core, 2 1,000 yd RBs with two excellent offensive minds, and for half the game it looks like you're playing with Justin fucking Zwick, Lydell Ross, and Jim fucking Bollman. Jesus Fucking Christ. Seems like every adjustment that Meyer makes comes at the expense of something else and he makes an enormous problem out of something relatively minor. Everything he touches offensively has gotten worse since 2014.

I actually had fun watching them during the Penn State game. Was maddening but still exciting (at least back when we thought the Pedsters were good). Ever since Minnesota it's been an absolute shit show. Honestly some of the worst coaching I've ever seen.

I have to agree. A team that gradually gets worse over the course of a season usually has bad coaching as part of the mix. The entire defensive staff should be replaced.

Feels like Nebraska lost more than we won. I hate that

These two quotes summarize this game and season for me.

I honestly dread Buckeye games this year. Never thought I'd say that in a million years.

Something is very, very wrong inside the WHAC

Starting to honestly believe a lack of accountability is a huge part of the problem. Players not afraid of getting sat the fuck down if they make too many mistakes. This also extends to coaches.

Unfortunately, yeah. To everything.

My hope is that it's 'only' players being disgruntled with coaches and guys just not on the same page. I think it was a pretty rough transition going from Day to a stressed and worn Meyer. He has zero energy and desire and this team looks the same. Nothing to unite them and cause them to care.

My big fear is Meyer is giving off signs of not coming back and the team has quit.
