While this is true, Nebraska isn't a school that is 'volatile' (for a lack of a better word) in Buckeye fans eyes. Aside from the meltdown last year, it's been quite some time since our two schools played one another - so the disdain for them will be zero when compared to, a M*chigan, Florida, USC or State Penn.

You'll get one or two drunk kids. Beyond that. I think Huskers' fans will have a great time.

The allegation is that MSU was given the "edited" tape at the beginning of the week, and that after the ADs talked it out, they were given the "real" tape on Thursday.

I would guess it is just Nebraska being paranoid, or one of the assistants (or Pelini, given his fiery nature could fly off the handle on it) will run their mouth after the game again about tape. If I hear anything about doctored tape this week though...there will certainly be questions that need answered. Right now I can write it off to MSU's douchebagery.

As for the game itself, I totally expect to see tOSU expose all of our weaknesses. Your defense will be by far the roughest, toughest defense we've faced. The only two REAL defenses we've faced thus far have caused us a LOT of problems and neither of those defenses are ion the same universe with tOSU's.
As for opposing offenses, our Achilles heel has been and continues to be mobile QB's. Braxton was tearing us apart last season, and had he not gotten injured, tOSU would have won handily in Lincoln last season. Now Braxton has a coach and offense which fits his skill set far better, so I'm thinking tOSU will put up 40+ against our inconsistent defense.
I thourghly expect to see Nebraska get taken behind the proverbial woodshed by tOSU in the game but I'll be okay with that simply because it will be cool to see Nebraska vs tOSU in that venerable & historic stadium. I know a LOT of our traveling fans are looking forward to the experience of gameday in Columbus and the atmosphere in the shoe.

I'd love to go to a game at the Shoe but I see the 40+ points too and the fact that our offense hasn't proven itself against a good defense. I suspect this could get ugly and would rather not repeat my experience last year in Madtown and the team up north. Hopefully my optimism and the desire to experience the Shoe will not overtake common sense and I watch this one from a distance. Win or lose, I enjoy a competitive game. I don't see any indications that this game will be competitive given that our defense has shown that it is capable of being (arguably) one of the worst in school history. Unless Tonya Harding's boyfriend shows up to take out Braxton before the game, he'll have a big game. We'll get burned a couple of times on the play where he rolls out, suckers in the DBs and safety and throws it long. That's what we do. No chance of us containing him in the pocket either. He's an accurate enough passer that our secondary will struggle. OSU really doesn't need to change their playbook. What they have ran so far will work well against our defense. Offense wise, OSU's defensive front is good enough to disrupt our fledgling passing attack. We seem to crumble after a couple of breakdowns in protection or interceptions. When we give up passing, they'll have an easy time stopping the run. Conditioning doesn't appear to be a problem this year so they'll be able to go 4 quarters. Having said all that, I still believe Nebraska can win. They just need to play to their potential, expect to win, not be intimidated playing in the Shoe and probably be -1 in turnovers. If OSU goes up by 14, game over and potential for blowout. This won't be a game that we expect to come back and win. Best of luck to the Buckeyes and I hope none of your players get injured (serious, long term injuries). GBR!!!

Not much gets over on Inspector Dantonio...

It's really no big deal and the dispute was settled way before the game. It turns out that Bernard, the video guy, makes a condensed version of the tapes for the lowerclassmen. It's really a developmental thing and removing all of the shifts allows the young players to pick up the playbook faster, with less confusion.

B Rubble Coach Dantonio

Unfortunately, that tape was mistakenly sent to Mark Dantonio, who Rubble used to send the tape to years ago when he was on the Ohio State coaching staff. Inspector Dantonio immediate recognized it and the jig was up.

Rubble is a cherished institution at Ohio State and it was, as they say, an unfortunate senior moment. The entire tale can be viewed at brubble.osu.edu/ncf/tape_mishap.html.

On a related note, Coach Dantonio can even show extreme posterior pain after losing to his closest friends:

Cue jwinslow's mini-rant about the magnitude of the suckiness of the temporary lights they bring in for night games.

Having to rent lights can't help with that.

Two things:

1) If Martinez was my QB I would never let him throw on the run. When he sets his feet and does his hop in the pocket, even tho he does look like he's skipping rocks, it's been effective. Throwing on the run = and interception waiting to happen. So, I say, bootleg and roll him out all night long.

2) I suspect that the tape thing has something to do with Dantonio throwing a fit about Urban taking a couple of verbal commitments away from MSU. Now whether the tape guys did it on their own or were directed by some higher authority, we will never know. Gotta root against Dantonio, but we shouldn't forget that he sent Cie Grant in to body slam Dorsey on 4th and goal in the 2nd OT of the NC game. So, I reserve that warm spot in my heart for him. :)

Neither was Texas and their fans had an awful time in Columbus. Many of them went from respect for Ohio State to downright disdain.

That's what I've heard down here as well. However the one caveat is that most of the complaints I've heard were from older alumni, some of whom I've heard don't like it when people stand in front of them at the games at home...

What you're going to find is that our students are certainly rowdy, but under control....the Alumni are a bit louder....but any real problems come from a group of wackos that never had anything to do with the University. I wish that I was going to be in town this weekend to have some good natured fun with you guys.
