Nebraska at Ohio State, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 9 PM on Peacock

From the NCAA rules book:

Art. 8. The following pertain to a designated spot:
a. The designated spot is the location at which a thrower-in is presented
disposal of the ball out of bounds as in Rules 4-11.1.a through .c.
b. The designated spot shall be 3 feet wide with no depth limitation.
c. The thrower-in must keep one foot on or over the designated spot until
the ball is released. Pivot foot restrictions and the traveling rule are not in
effect for a throw-in.

d. The thrower-in shall not leave the designated spot until he has released the
ball and the thrown-in ball has crossed the plane of the sideline or end line.
e. In arenas or gyms where there is insufficient space along the out-of-bounds
line for a throw-in, an official shall require the defender guarding the thrower-
in to move back a reasonable distance to give the thrower-in an opportunity
to make a throw-in.

So that means he is allowed to shuffle around and can move some as long as he stays within that 3-foot spot? If so, I owe Diebs and Parrish an apology as I clearly do not know the rule!

Eleven Warriors' poll today asks what you would consider success for Ohio State men's basketball this season. The answer for me wasn't on the list of options: It's "stop playing the game in an idiotic manner." I'd be in favor of cutting the tournament back to 32 just so nobody thinks that either of the moronic teams that played last night has any business being in it.

Also, any time any male or female Ohio State basketball player feels inclined to box someone out, that would be great.

We woulda got boat raced in OT last night against a capable team, Nebraska just isn't a good enough team to assure finishing off the Buckeye collapse aided victory. We may very well back into the tourney now, I still don't see it as a success. Finish off and win even just 1 or 2 of our previous 2nd half collapses and we are probably easily in but because of the inability to close out games we are scrambling at the last minute to slide in.

Lol cant believe they awarded us the ball that was clearly last touched by Royal
No, it really did hit the fingertips of the Husker last.

There was another call about a minute earlier. Parrish knocked the ball off a Husker‘s forearm near the sideline but the ball was given to Nebraska. It was tough to see and they couldn’t review it since there was about 2:40 left in the OT period.

But the Buckeyes were fortunate that the refs didn’t have quick whistles for technicals last night. Stewart loomed over a guy on the baseline after blocking his shot, and Royal slammed the ball after he didn’t control a rebound. Either of those could have been called and might have made the outcome different.

I'm really sorry some of you were so miserable watching that game last night. That was a lot more fun than seeing them beat a D-3 school 104-26.
Was it frustrating at times? Definitely. Did it leave me scratching my head at times? Without a doubt. Would it have felt like we blew it if the Bucks lost? Most definitely.
But unless I missed something in my old age, I'm pretty sure we won. And that part felt great.
Enjoy the ride. And look at the bright side - you're not a fan of tcun.

I wasn't even aware there was a game last night, that's where I am with this program. Oh well, at least it's a W and I love the throwback unis.
That's where I am at too, had other things going on and missed it, but just saw the W. At this point they just need to keep winning and not blow second half leads. Sneaking into the Tourney is not the measuring stick for our team, but this year it pretty much is if we're all being honest. Glad we got the win, on to the next one.

Played in some gyms where the wall was extremely close to the sideline. Ref told the defender to stay back, but that never seemed to happen. Of course, this was the 'old days', and not in this era of expansive gymnasiums/basketball courts. However, was a technical foul if the defender hit/touched the ball-thrower-inner. (also played prior to the 3-point line). But yes, to answer some of the more critical posters, the ball was still round.

You're not wrong at all, but there's something about basketball that hits me differently than other sports. Seeing it played in an idiotic manner, even when the outcome is positive, bugs me to the core in a way that watching other sports played stupidly doesn't. The game was entertaining, in the way that watching two mediocre but evenly matched and game boxers can be, but I just don't understand why it's so hard to be able to even discern what they're trying to do, or whether they've ever been coached on how to box out or defend without fouling, when I watch OSU men's basketball. The women at least have a discernible plan and identity, even though they can be boneheaded at times as well and also appear not to have been coached on how to box out. I will say that both teams appear to generally put forth a pretty high level of effort, which I do appreciate.
