Nebraska at Ohio State, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 9 PM on Peacock

Both of these teams are allergic to winning.
I wrote this on Feb 9, 2023. Two years later and it feels the exact same.

Good lord.

This team just makes losing plays. Terrible terrible losing vibes.

Kindest way I can put it. Not a lot of winning basketball displayed.

Parrish 3 not withstanding.

Many/most of these kids have been hooping since they were six. Someone-somewhere had to have taught these kids the rules of the game. Yeah, after a basket, one can run back and forth on the baseline to get the ball in, but on an awarded ball, one is pretty much limited to what happens to you inside the lines, in other words a planted pivot foot. Unless the rules have changed....Also, the Buckeyes got away with something. When a ball is slammed to the court, and is not caught, and it goes up, up, up, it is clearly a technical. And it happened, and the refs failed to call a T. Players knew it, our guys just shuffled around, but the Huskers guys were pointing and jumping around. Doubtful if tOSU would have pulled off the win, if Nebraska was awarded two free throws and the ball.....also, it looks like the Buckeyes were thugs with the free throw disparity, even my wife was shouting at the refs to make the same calls on both ends of the court. Not certain what needs to happen to get the powers that be to review the officiating, but hopefully Diebs makes that point.

From the NCAA rules book:

Art. 8. The following pertain to a designated spot:
a. The designated spot is the location at which a thrower-in is presented
disposal of the ball out of bounds as in Rules 4-11.1.a through .c.
b. The designated spot shall be 3 feet wide with no depth limitation.
c. The thrower-in must keep one foot on or over the designated spot until
the ball is released. Pivot foot restrictions and the traveling rule are not in
effect for a throw-in.

d. The thrower-in shall not leave the designated spot until he has released the
ball and the thrown-in ball has crossed the plane of the sideline or end line.
e. In arenas or gyms where there is insufficient space along the out-of-bounds
line for a throw-in, an official shall require the defender guarding the thrower-
in to move back a reasonable distance to give the thrower-in an opportunity
to make a throw-in.
