Maybe everyone is voting them in at #5, that poll only proves that people think they are top 5... not #1... and if the question was who are the greatest programs in the last ten years Notre Dame would barely break the top 25 if they broke it at all... the only reason they get votes for greatness is the past (as in more than 20 years ago).

I had vote ND #1 in that poll, as a program, when considering things like recognizability, impact on the game, history, along with on-field accomplishments. However, ND is not in the top 10 currently team-wise (regardless of the polls of the last few weeks), and haven't been for about a decade.
