NCAA09 360 FSU Dynasty

Top heavy classes, Miami & Clemson both checking in with 3 5-stars (I think), FSU close behind with 2. Where are you putting Avery, redbenn? You seem to have him nearly locked up.

I'm going to try my hardest to keep Minor from you, but that visit week sure did wonders for you. No lineman should be forced into action before he's ready, he can adjust for years at FSU during 3rd qtr blowouts :p

Brutal game.

1) Silva is simply unstoppable. I tried my 99 spd, 99 acc DB and he still gained major separation: The entire team must contain him, or there is no chance of stopping him (as he will break or elude 2-3 tackles on most plays). I don't feel so bad about hoarding the QBs now

2) Passing was not an option for FSU. On the first drive, I hit the wrong button and threw a pick, but Clemson's pass coverage was inpenetrable. When we had open WRs, passes were knocked down. I threw two passes into the flats (one with the WR 5 yards upfield, and the QB threw it towards the sidelines instead and to Clemson ). I even tried throwing a jump ball since it couldn't be worse than the rest of the game, and it sailed 7 yards beyond my breaking open impact WR.

At 21-3 (1 pick six), I conceded that passing the ball was simply not possible and ran the power I almost exclusively. (sound familiar Miami?) We cut it to 21-10 with slow, punishing football up the middle. After halftime a horrendous option pitch set FSU way back. That would be the only drive FSU would be stopped in the power I (though one drive led to a FG).

case in point: EJ Manuel, untouched, feet set:

FSU's defense ran an exotic and gambling set of zones, blitzes and anything we could to contain Silva. We couldn't stop him until the redzone but held Clemson to 3 FGs in the second half (I think), including one after a failed onsides kick.

FSU drove the ball all the way down to the 9 yard line with 40 seconds left & 2 timeouts. Clemson's defense manned up on the first two downs, including sacking the speed QB on his 3rd step back. On 3rd down an open RB in the flats was led out of bounds with a pass, but not before he lost yardage.

On 4th down, FSU finally has some room to pass. They get their speed RB in the flats 1v1 on Daquan Bowers. He breaks open by about 2-3 yards in the flats and sprints for the corner. Daquan dives and somehow cuts off the angle and also turns Paul upfield (instead of angled outside like he was going) and brings him down at the 2.

Daquan Bowers in coverage > CB Murray. :shake: :smash: :p

i played the va tech game late night saturday after a long valentines day... had a few too many beers in me to handle the game, threw about 5 INTs, but got the win :slappy:

My strategy almost cost me in the end. I was hell bent on preventing big passing plays (got lucky on the one long pass that was overthrown). I was willing to concede the run because I figured you would either not be patient enough to keep running or my front 7 could handle it.

Luckily the defense literally held on at the end. Bowers was supposed to be containing, but for some reason the OLB did not go out with the receiver so I had to get Bowers out there as fast as I could. Apparently took a good enough angle to make the game saving play.

It was an excellent strategy and it took half a game for our defense to feel they belonged on the field with that freak of nature at RB.

It was almost the exact same script from the Miami game, where my passing game (my bread & butter) was horrendous and dug me in a hole, only to come storming back with power football. Vs Miami I had to convert an onsides kick to win however.

Was he like that vs Miami? It was like watching Noel Devine feast on poor florida competition.

I can deal with the insane running ability, despite it's challenges, but it is actually impossible to cover him.
