Tough loss for VT.
VT marched down the field, chunk by chunk, gashing FSU on the ground. Converted a number of 3rd/4th & shorts, including at the goalline.
FSU countered with their high-octane spread attack, punched it in for six.
VT again marches down the field for six, chunk by chunk, demoralizing the opposing D. Needed many tries on the goalline, but converterd.
FSU's offense sputters after a costly sack (wound up to pass and didn't get it off) on 2nd down.
VT drives it down the field, finally gets forced into 3rd and long, throws it right to the safety, but somehow the ball squirts to the crossing WR's hands. Punches it in after many goalline carries, with 0:45 left on the clock.
FSU goes play action to their superstar frosh WR and reels it in 50 yds downfield. A few plays later they punch it in.
21-14 at the half.
FSU gets the ball, and decides to join the fun of absurdly dominant running games. I-form all day long, 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Time killing TD drive. 21-21.
VT answers with one of their own, which as always includes a number of 3rd/4th & short conversions. On 3rd and goal at the 1, Taylor throws it right to the LB, but the potential pick 6 drops harmlessly to the turf. 28-21.
FSU sticks to the formula, and shoves it down VT's throat like they've done to them. 28-28, late 4th.
VT goes 3 & out at the 30. FSU has a great punt return set up, but VT's gunner flies through the block and pancakes Parker, saving at least 20 yds of field position.
FSU sticks to the I, but sprinkles in enough play action to get into position. They drive it down to the 5, get stuffed 3 times, and sneak the kick inside the right upright (not by much) from the left hash.
