Whoever mentioned the deadly read option was right. Finally think I've got it figured out and certainly making the most of it. Defeated Wisconsin 27-20 in a hotly contested game against a good defense, then watched Braxton go for 275 on the ground against an undefeated Penn State team. Just wish the game's scheduling AI would be a bit smarter. Ended up with four straight big ten home games and then the last three on the road to finish the season (although I shouldn't complain, they're against Purdue, Northwestern and Michigan)

What was fixed? And this game is more towards the latter of those two.

Passing trajectory and control. Super LB. WR route running skill is more important than SPD skill.
It still has its flaws and playing people that exploit the flaws will certainly drive you to think that's the value of the game and hate it. EA servers, right now remain the biggest flaw in my experience. Our leagues are the only reason I buy this game religiously. Though, I am concerned about AWR's potential lasting impact of recruits coming in at 40-50.

But by in large, the frustration level I have with my teams is their lack of skill, mainly defensively and not being able to stop an elementary team.

The recruiting AWR rating has been broken for years. It's ridiculous. They try and fix it and break something else.

I have the same issues with this one as I always had in Madden...I use great sliders that people develop, the flow of the game is good...but in the end, I am always in the top 5 (and usually #1) against the run and bottom 5 (and usually dead last) against the pass. It is ridiculous, if I make the sliders any easier for the CPU then my guys just won't tackle, but if I leave them as is they don't get the first 5-10 runs going so they usually abandon it (even in close games). For example I played OSU against this year's Nebraska team to a 18-16 win, Martinez had one big run, Burkhead had one big run, and I think their rushing total on me was around 90...I have not allowed anything close to that in any other game. Meanwhile they throw it every down in the second half, and though my passing numbers aren't awful, statistically I think I rank like 114th against the pass. I've never been able to break that trend in any football game, no matter what I've done.

I announce my retirement from NCAA and Madden for the remainder of this year and the next.

I'm trading this game in at the end of the week for credit for AC3 after my last 3 games in OD. So... Friday.

I finish with a 134-52 record in online, quick ranked- match play.

It's been fun. But I just don't get the enjoyment that I used too.

Friend of mine just discovered a nice little glitch.
Playing on xbl. You can see your opponents defensive
Play guess on occasion. Sure as shit. I'm on offense
Top left corner I see he calls a run right. I switch to the
Left... TD. Just another reason this game is a fucking joke.

How in the hell is that done? That could explain my ass raping I got by TCU when I was Baylor.

Am I seeing people run more comeback routes and corner routes or am I just noticing them more? Is there a good way to stop the comebacks? All I can figure out is blitz a lot because they take a while to develop. Also, maybe Cover 2?

Does anyone ever get an AI pass interference penalty? I have played, oh, 20 or so games now, and though I have enough holding and movement penalties to keep the totals realistic for total yards, I have yet to see a PI...ever...

I have received 3 total. The first two were back to back. One offensive the next defensive. The third one was this morning. The Purdue QB did PA to RB. I blitzed SS who smacked the [Mark May] out of RB thinking he got the ball. The QB chucks a pass to the flat the RB would not have got to even without the hit. Pass Interference against the defense. WTF!

I read certain zones but I get crushed by deep corner routes or the TE though.

I'm not entirely sure. I'll try to put up a video.

Comeback routes are the newest cheese. The CB's back off in cover 0,1&3.
So you'll see your guy audible to double outsider hitch or comeback.
If you play a straight 2 zone you'll get slants. 2 man under some type
Of man beater. Cover 1, go, deep in, out.

You can read 95% of coverages pre-snap.
Hence why I'm a firm believer you shouldnt be able
To audible individual routes.

For some reason I always struggle with Indiana. End up pulling away when I need to but it was a tough one. 42-21 winners over the Hoosiers, then headed over to West Lafayette and Evanston and took care of business. Ran out of scholarships going into Michigan week (have 25 commits already) and had a bye going into it so got some guys healthy. looking to finish it off and get ready for the big ten title game

Do you mean before or after the snap? Couldn't you just tell them to press?

Usually when I see someone using lots of audibles, I change my defense to the opposite of what I was just in. That often helps, but isn't great.

No, not after the snap. If you look at how close the CB's play you can get a near accurate assessment of what defense is being played without even looking at the rest of the alignment.

If the CB's aren't in press, most people audible to double hitch/comeback and if they're in press you get slants or go's.

The hitches are just a pain in the fucking ass. If your CB is backed off at all, and you call a cover 2 and make an adjustment to have a shallow zone, I want my CB to attack the out route. They never do. They always back peddle just enough to allow the WR (most on smart routes) to get to the chains and make the completion. The only time I've picked those off are on disguised cover 2 and the ball is thrown late.

I can't take the game back until thursday. I'll be happy to jump online and show you what I'm talking about.

I think I know what you're talking about. What do you do against the comebacks? The best I can figure out is blitz a lot and try to get pressure because those routes do take some time to develop.

On the other side of the ball, I had been doing really well on offense lately, but this guy just about totally shut me down last night. He was doing some kind of 6 man pressure with press man coverage. Usually when I get blitzed I go to quick passes, but because he was pressing me I couldn't get the passes off on a regular basis. Also, since he was playing man coverage screens didn't really work either. Finally, I couldn't get any separation deep. I usually figure if someone's playing like that I'll bust a long TD pass at some point because of the risk they're taking, but I didn't have much luck going deep.

Finally, he was smart and aligned all the defenders right over their coverage responsibility. A lot of people don't manually move the MLB over the fifth receiver, for instance, so that guys still gets a clean release. I only scored a TD in the game because the guy got too conservative when I had the ball before halftime.
