NCAA Football 10 (PS3) BP Super Conference

Did I overuse an exploit? My guess would be the speed rush with my DE is what you're referring to?

It's not the use of them, it's the effectiveness. And yes, I called plays to counter it. Sometimes it worked, sometimes the superhuman DEs warped through my tackles at Mach 5 to make the sack. What pisses me off is that that d-line audible is perfect for options and outside runs. It's made for that. But tackles can't do a damn thing to slow them down. I tried stepping into the pocket, throwing to the flats, throwing to a slot receiver running an out pattern, throwing to backs running curl patterns, and other stuff. It rarely worked. Hell, I even hot routed my TEs and RBs to stay and block and it didn't work. You had one superhuman DE sack when I only had two receivers running patterns. I audibled both backs and the TE to block. But out and in they go. My running QB with 90+ speed can't punish you for this tactic because he gets caught by DTs with 70+ speed. That happened in the 4th. I just laughed. Two backs, a TE, and five linemen don't even slow down the ends. Hell, I don't mind if the ends get through the block as long as there's a block.

I understand. Especially about the over executed DL speed. I am going to look into some sliders for, maybe check in with the xbox guys with the ones they are using. There has to be a way to even the playing field.

Since there is only four of us right now in the Superleague. Do you guys mind if we start tweaking around to see if we can't make it a little more realistic?
If yes, what exploits are we trying to fix?

I thought you put in the 360 guy's sliders?

I am also in the "2009 was more fun" crowd. That games was awesome. I really enjoyed playing those games. Now they are kind of a drag and I find my self simming a lot of 2nd halfs while playing CPUs.

EXACTLY, 2009 was just more fun. 2010 had so much potential, but the gameplay just makes it less fun. Probably one reason these dynasties are moving slower and just not as active as a whole.

I actually really liked Madden this year and was disappointed the online league Olaf created fizzled, cuz I had alot more fun in the human v human games in that league versus the 2010 h v h games.

No, I didn't. Didn't have enough people that wanted it and several people wanted it to stay the same. IIRZC, said last year was no fun because of the sliders?

Just an FYI from the 360 side...sliders are oftentimes a hassle to change. If you guys are satisfied with what you have, just make small (5-10 point) changes here and there. Someone always is going to be unhappy with large adjustments.

That's kind of the problem now, seemingly no one is happy with the gameplay as is. My concerns aren't exploits because generally speaking we don't cheese. Which is all abusing exploits is. I have issues with the glitches; more specifically the animations that the user has no control over and turnovers getting out of control.

Others have problems with OL too dominant or DL too dominant, RB's and QB's being ran down by significantly slower players. I think there is probably some slider adjustments to control those though.

Sliders do help with the OL and DL stuff, but for some reason there is no way to combat the slower players catching up to faster ones in the backfield. There is no momentum/physics engine in the game. Until there is, a 300 lb DT will be able to go from being engaged and changing direction and then hitsticking a RB who is running away from him at full speed. It's really, really dumb.

What I've found out is that the sliders are nothing but animation triggers. Everything in this game is based off of animations between two players. The sliders determine how far away an animation can start from. So turning up the Run Block/Pass Block will give you more suction blocking. It also effects CPU AI. Say you have run block turned up and call a zone blocked running play. The CPU controlled offensive lineman will be more likely to warp block someone who doesn't have a legitimate shot at getting the ball carrier just because they are closer, while disregarding the guy bearing down on the ball carrier who is the real threat.

Anyway, I can talk sliders for days. I've labbed probably over 50 different sets in all my days of NCAA playing, only to start back from zero with every new release. If they just put in a simple locomotion/mass physics and intertia based game engine, it would solve so many of this problems.

I actually liked the sliders last year... but that was me.

Here is the thing... we are still using the default sliders on all-american.

I remember liking them as well. Maybe that's revisionist history though? But I also am much happier with this years game play, considering we are using default sliders...
