Lucroy Slams Cajuns to Win Over Troy
MOBILE, Ala.-Jonathan Lucroy's first hit of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament was a memorable one as he hit a game-changing grand slam off SBC Pitcher of the Year to send the Ragin' Cajuns into Bracket Finals.

The Cajuns' co-captain hit a grand slam home run in the sixth inning to highlight a five run inning and send Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns to a 9-7 win over Troy in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Mobile, Alabama.

Lucroy's blast to left center came off SBC Pitcher of the Year Josh Dew and rallied the Cajuns from a 6-4 deficit to an 8-6 lead. The home run capped a five run inning right after Troy had delivered a five spot to take the lead.

Thanks for starting this JC. I was beginning to wonder who would. I might add that Troy also made it into the T.
At any rate the Bucks need to continue playing at the top of their game in order to advance.
This is a double elim tourney btw.

    for the record

Louisiana-Lafayette lost in the sun belt championship game to New Orleans
mania is 100% correct. I edited my post to reflect that fact.

ULL is still tough, though. It will take all the mo' the Buckeyes have to pull this one off.

the cajuns have the highest RPI of any 2 seed.

They are a good club...especially with the bats.

Playing them is about like playing WCU, but i really thing Western Carolina is a slightly better club than UL-Lafayette.

I think we can win this...and i dont say things like that very often. We can compete with everybody in the this regional. tOSU didnt get a death sentence like Minny & scUM did...we gotta shot at coming outta College Station.

Poor Minny wont win a game, but scUM will make it to sunday before they fall..

From what I've heard, they're also pissed they didn't get to host. That's never a good thing for an opponent...

It can also be a good thing, as they might start sulkin' and not play welll, much like we see in bowl games when teams don't feel they should be playing the in game they are playing against a team they think they are that much better than...

I agree you see it in bowl games all the time. College baseball is different though in that you still have Omaha to play for, no matter what the first round match ups are. It is a valid point though, as you never know how the coaching staff is going to react. Many times I've seen coaches not throw a 1 or 2 guy in an opening game trying to save them for higher seeds in a regional, or even later games in a weekend series only to have that turn on them and lose the first game anyway..

Well maybe college basketball would be a better way to put it, as some teams think they deserve higher seeds and then they end up not playing welll in the first round...

I'm betting we don't see ULL's ace on Friday. Will they see Luebke? I'd say definitely yes. The biggest questions follow Luebke. Will Hale and company be able to step it up the way they did in the Big10 tourney? Will we be able to score more than 4 runs? Its going to be fun thats for sure!
