I had the same issue when I tried to play the other day. I don't think the CPU will let me play it at all. So just sim it

So overjoyed... a miracle happened last night. Of course the curse of this is if I don't beat him in the SEC championship game... it meant nothing :(

Oh yeah, the game was kinda fun last night as I picked the Texas A&M stormtrooper white unis and we played in... SNOW!!! fun times!
