I was happy to sneak into the top 5 at the end of the year. My HB this year was nice and could break some tackles initially but didn't have the homerun speed like the my previous one. Wasn't the WVU HB the frontrunner all year?IronBuckI;2153989; said:Heisman! Broke fanatic's streak. WOOT! :tongue2:
He was in the lead for most of the season, but Fletcher took over the lead in week 10. Fletcher had just had a 250+ yard game in week 7, and 300+ yard games in weeks 8 and 9.fanaticbuckeye;2153998; said:I was happy to sneak into the top 5 at the end of the year. The only reason I missed the 65 yard field goal was I didn't hit it full. I hit at least 5 60+ FG's this year with a long of 64 I believe. With a slightly quicker release from my QB prior to the missed FG, I would have hit my TE that was wide open. He may not have gotten the first down, but it would have been 15 yards closer anyway.Piney;2154065; said:Yeah, was a classic SEC defensive slug fest (or offensive ineptitude)
The drops came early and often and drove me crazy. Open WR, perfect throw and it bounces off the WR's helmet? Overall my team had 8 drops, not pretty.
But that wasn't the reason for the loss, I blew some great oppprtunites. Threw an ill-advised INT on a 3rd and goal where I should have just eaten the ball and settled for a FG. I ate a precious 2nd half timeout when I decided halfway through the playclock to try something different and came to the line with 6-7 seconds left to snap (and automotion in the play to boot) I then for some reason came out in punt formation on a LONG FG try... really fanatic... a 60+ yarder? and of course the punt returner caught it in the end zone and took it out costing me 30 yards of field position.
Then the icing was letting fanatic lull me to sleep and throw a 60+ yard TD after I took the lead in the 4th quarter. Pissed me off cuz I was in 2 deep man coverage and had two guys back there, he just blew right by me.
And then fanatic still was able to hit a 60+ yard FG try to ice it at the end of the game... really fanatic... couldn't you have missed that one instead?
But really a great game to play in. Reminded me of fanatic and I classic games in the first years of our dynasty (the classic Kent St v Ohio games we had)
How tOSU was in the Championship game is beyond me. Miller wasn't the starter and the QB's threw the ball away with no pressure at least 5 times. I put the game on conservative clock to get it over quicker and save some embarrassment for them.IronBuckI said:Also, screw Ohio State. I wanted the week 1 rematch. That game in week 1 changed my approach to running this triple option offense, and also changed my defensive philosophy. So much so, that I only gave up 85 points in the 12 games that followed your 34-7 blowout in week 1.

I was watching the play clock dwindle when you used that TO and was wondering what happened?
My two TD's were big risks; the first one was the draw play on 3rd and Goal from the 4 or 5 and the 70+ yard reception to Arnett when I was getting no separation from my WR's. Even on that play I didn't get any separation until the end of the route. Then on the final 4th Down from you, I was anticipating you picking it up and getting pay back from the first game.
Unless you were running a 60 series pass or draw play. If you're actually lined up with 6-7 seconds, then every other automotion ,from any flexbone formation, will complete before you get a delay of game. You really only need 3-4 seconds. The 60 series plays take a little while for the wingback or slot receiver to go clear across the field, but everything else is pretty quick.Piney;2154114; said:Yeah, for some reason I had second thoughts due to the bad field position to coming out in the flexbone, then when I did there was no time for the automotion to complete before I would snap the ball.

The wingback misdirection has a quick automotion, but 3 seconds is really pushing it.Piney;2154172; said:Well, I broke the huddle with 6-7 seconds left and was lined up with about 3 seconds left. Just too tight for comfort.
Will get alot more practice with it next season since my true frosh is an option machine, B speed, A acceleration & A- agility with an A- elusiveness as icing on the top. Also nice that my backup has speed whom I used this year as my experimentation QB to save my starter. The only thing is he is HORRIBLE passing. But a decent option for backup duty.
