NBA to allow players to take an extra step (legally)

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James pleased to hear NBA is reconsidering rules on traveling - Cleveland.com
There might be some salvation for the "crab dribble" after all. In response to increased scrutiny in recent years, the NBA is examining rewriting its traveling rules as soon as next season. It may include allowing for two steps, not one as currently written, and possibly even a provision for LeBron James' famous, or infamous, depending on your perspective, crab-dribble move.
"We're working on it," Joe Borgia, NBA's vice president of referee operations, told the ESPN.com blog Truehoop recently.

"Our traveling rule we've been discussing for a couple of years," he said. "The game has evolved. I don't think the rule has evolved since the time of Bob Cousy. But we're also going to probably share it with the NCAA and maybe FIBA, because it would be nice if we could all come up with a similar rule. A similar rule would be great for the players, the coaches, and the officials."

Oh, for god's sake. They already get away with 2.5 steps.

Dumbasses, give them fewer steps, not more. :smash:

could be wrong, but I think more or less they are just going to rephrase the current language in the rulebook to what they allow currently.

The rule says 1.5 steps but they give 2. Why not make it say 2 steps? In Fiba basketball we get killed on that. Players going in for uncontetsed lay-ups and dunks get called ofr traveling all of the time because they are strict about 1.5 steps.

I could be wrong though...

It won't be long until style points are added to made field goals. 360 dunk = 3 points, 3 pointer after breaking your defenders ankles = 4 points. Maybe the NBA and the AND1 tour can just merge and get it over with.
