vrbryant: While the ending certainly was exciting a 72-67 NBA basketball game just doesn't do it for me. Twenty years ago a 72-67 NBA game would have had about 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. I just don't enjoy the game anymore but I have been a fan in the past. I do enjoy watching college basketball still.

I respect your opinion, Nutty, and the game certainly what it was in the 80s and early 90s...but my question is this: What difference does the score make? Whether it's 50-49 or 130-128, if the game is tight, isn't a good game? I don't know. I like great defense just as much as (if not more than) great offense.

Last nights game was excellent. I've been a Pistons fan since I was 9 years old(the original 'Bad Boys'). I've always liked defensive based teams. The years with Stack as the main guy sucked a big fat ass. I love how everyone says that low scoring games are due to the players not being able to shoot anymore. Noone ever considers that, there is ALOT more contact in the NBA than there used to be. It's pretty hard to make a shot when a 240+ lb. guy is body checking you.
Regardless of who wins this series. I still want the Eastern Conference to win this year.

VR, I grew up more of a basketball than football fan, which is saying a lot, but began to lose interest a while ago. I agree with you that the score shouldn't make much difference, if it's a good, hard-fought game. I think the sheer number of games watered down my interest. It's one thing to get fired up for 12-14 Buckeyes games, and another, to me, to really follow 82 regular season games and the playoffs.

Aside from football, I can only get interested in sports when their playoffs start. I am against the NFL expanding the play-offs because it makes the regular season less meaningful. The great thing about college football is that every game counts for so much.

defensive matchups, yawn. I dont particularly like the lakers but i'd rather watch them score than watch a 75-69 game. I'll admit i'm a fairweather basketball fan, but this is mostly the mainstream audience's opinion.

As far as basketball is concerned, I prefer an offensive, up tempo game with good ball movement and a lot of scoring. Watching a game like the other night, albeit a close and exciting game, is not that entertaining to me. I don't enjoy basketball now like I did in the days of Bird and Magic. I watch those classic series from back in the 80's and those guys were so skilled and all of them could shoot. It's a much different game today. I guess it's just a matter of taste really.
