Navy +9.5 at Air Force (ov/un 48.5) 2:30 ET Versus

I think Air Force will be the winner, but they won't cover the spread. Ricky Dobbs (when healthy) is a versatile option-QB and I just don't think that the Midshipmen let this fall too far away from them in the game.

That being said, with Air Force running the #1 rushing attack in the nation I don't think Navy can withstand the incoming onslaught and will fall to the Falcons.

WTF is AF wearing on their helmets?

Navy misses a 21 yard FG. :shake:

The entire Air Force uniform is some sort of alternate with a red-white-blue theme going on.

What it looks like to me is some sort of tribute to the old aircrew helmets of the 60s, 70s, and 80s in which they were all white with a red paint scheme. Now aircrew helmets are all grey.

Yeah, I noticed the red on the uniforms but the helmets are really wacked out. If they wanted to wear RWB today I'd rather have seen them use the helmets they wore on 9/11 - the lightning bolt was RWB that day. Those looked good.

These ones look like someone fired tomatoes at them.

Guys, the helmets are a tribute to one of our strongest traditions - Air Force Thunderbirds.

In the USAF, we love flight and we cherish our stunt pilots that put on great shows. This is our way of showing love to them.

Look at the student section for this game you will see a lot of flight suits. Since the team can't play in a NOMEX flight suit, we modified our helmet paint scheme to match that of our AF T-Birds.

Thanks for the explanation, although I think I'd rather see them play in NOMEX flight suits.

I'm so glad we have brave young men in the USN and USAF protecting our freedom. We all owe the armed services a debt of gratitude for their bravery, self-sacrifice and discipline. Our service academies are a critical part of the development of defense leadership that will be paramount in our nation's future.

With all this being said, my interest in this game is pretty much in whale-shit territory.

Yeah, I was at B-Dubs earlier today chatting it up with another Buckeye fan at the bar. Everything was going swell until I mentioned that I am in the AF and in San Antone for flight training. He showed me his DOD ID, he is Navy. Well, I just happened to have my Squadron coin on me, so I threw it down . Well he didn't have his so he got upset saying that its just an AF thing and he wasn't going to buy a round of beers. Then we went into banter about the game, friendly of course. As but we both stood tall about who would win Zoomies or the Shit-I mean Shipmen.

Well, apparently the Air Force is flying high today! Go Falcons!

I'd like the 6 seconds back I wasted reading this post.

Nice.

In the CIC games I tend to pull for the team that has been losing in recent years so I'm happy for the AFA today.

Reece Davis on Gameday Scoreboard, regarding the USAFA-USNA game:

"The Air Force wearing some new duds. Their helmets look like, some...some..some sort of flight helmet."

Bro, YOU are supposed to be a college football expert. Not just an analyst of the Top 25 teams. If you are planning on recaping a game and highlighting a certain area, take 5 minutes to do some research or have a research lackey there in the studio get you the information.
