Game Thread Navy 27, at tOSU 31 (Sep 5th, ESPN)

Wow. I have just lost the small amount of confidence I had left in Tressel. Had Navy scored on that 2-Pt and then won in overtime, it would have been all Tressel's fault for putting in Bauserman and then for not kicking that field goal and going up 3 scores. That was completely inexcusable.

I would say going for it on 4th down wasn't a bad idea, but the acutal play call wasn't the best. TP wanted to go for it so the ball should have been placed in his hands and not pounded up the middle on what looked almost like the same play they just ran.

I like those turnovers, they weren't just dropped fumbles or bad throws by Navy but takeaways by a ball hawking D.

What game were you watching?

the first fumble was a dropped ball on the option and the INT (while a great catch) was a horribly underthrown ball.

I agree that the specific play call was abysmal, but going for it at all was dumb. That was a chip shot field goal to go up 3 scores with a few minutes left. Instead, they got stuffed and 10 seconds later it was a 1 posession game.

I guarantee Navy finishes the season being a damn good team... we weren't playing western Michigan, or northern Iowa its Navy. who are some of the hardest working young men in the country

Yes, its very hard to tackle someone when most of your d-line is trying to tackle from their knees. TP was much better than I thought he would be at this point. The receivers looked sharp, but disappointed in T Wash for 2 dropped balls.

Next week we do need to get better but are d-line will be are best strength.

The first fumble was not an option drop. It was caused by Thad Gibson wrapping up the QB from behind. It was clearly a forced fumble.

The INT was under thrown but the QB was also under pressure and his throw was hurried. There was a cause for the under thrown ball and it was pressure.

Perhaps this is why Purdue is Purdue and Ohio State is Ohio State?

The week before a big game, that has national championship implications, only a fool would panic and open up their playbook.

Easy to say this after the fact, lucky for you Navy never tied it. Would have been awful embarrassing to lose that first game while "saving your playbook", for the "National Championship implications game" that suddenly turned out not to have National Championship implications, well except for USC.

I was thinking about the fumble by the goal line.

It's kind of running together now as I'm trying to forget this one already.
