I have been a Nancy Darsch fan since she build and took Ohio State to the NCAA finals in 93. I followed her when she coached the Liberty and Mystics. I recently saw her as an assistant with the Seattle Storm. She is a true builder of programs and teams. She ran her course with the Buckeyes but I don't think there would be a Jim Foster without her success.

I would like to see her dot the I during the Michigan football game or honored for bringing women's sport to the forefront.

It probably should be Tara VanDerveer or Phyllis Bailey who brought women's intercollegiate athletics to Ohio State. Maybe even Tracey Hall who was a bigger star than Katie Smith during the 80's where she played and started every game from her freshman to her senior year. Oh yeah, she was All-American and Big Ten player of the year twice. Second in pts, first in rebounds, and field goal percentage of all time.

Yet, I do believe that Nancy should get that honor. I think people will look back at that 1993 final as the turning pt. for women's basketball. If I'm not mistaken, they were the first Big 10 team to make it to a final.

Nancy Darsch, former Ohio State and WNBA coach, dies at 68

Nancy Darsch, who guided the Ohio State women’s basketball team to the 1993 title game and went on to coach in the WNBA, has died. She was 68.

She had Parkinson’s disease and died Monday in her hometown of Plymouth, Mass. Brian Agler, who coached with her at Seattle in the WNBA, said Ms. Darsch’s family informed him of her death.
