N Illinois +7.5 at Toledo (ov/un 67.5) Tue 7 ET, ESPN2

Toledo letting the clock run down, assuming I guess that they are actually going to stop NIU on a goal to go situation.

Surprise! NIU scores with 19 seconds left. Gee, who thought that would happen?

NIU leads 63-60

Coming into the game, NIU was 0-4 ATS on the road and Toledo was 3-1 ATS at home. Naturally, NIU covers.

I'm going to just start flipping a fucking coin.

Anybody wanting to hire Tim Beckman as tOSU;s head coach should watch him not call any timeouts in the last 2 minutes, as NIU is in the red zone doen by 4 points in an all-time shootout.

NIU scores with 19 seconds left, and Toledo has 3 timeouts left. Very foolish to have not used 2 of them and given your offense an extra minute or so.

I was ready to pay this out, but there could be 2 straight 15 yard penalties, resulting in untimed plays, allowing a Toledo FG to send it into OT, where they cover the 7.5 in the 3rd OT like Stanford did.

Re-capping the timeout thing.

NIU was down 60-56 and had a 2nd and 1 at the 4 yard line with about 2:20 left.

They got a first down on the 3 with 1:48 left. The clock was re-started, and the next thing was a delay of game with 1:25 left (yeah, apparently it was a 23-second clock). They start the clock again, and get a false start with 1:12 left. They re-start the clock again, and snap it at 58 seconds, incomplete in the end zone with 53 seconds left. NIU has 2 timeouts, so at this point if you get a turnover on the next play, three knees will get the clock below 5 seconds left for the 4th down snap, where an intentional safety could ice the game. So there's no reason now to worry about leaving time for NIU in the case of a stop.

NIU then snaps the 2nd and goal at the 13 with 53 seconds left, and runs down to the 4 - still no timeout from Beckman. NIU snaps it at 24 seconds left, and scores with 19 seconds left. Toledo had all 3 timeouts, but only had 19 seconds left. They didn't get close to a tying FG, but if they had 1 minute left, the way the offenses were roilling tonight they probably would have.

Complete brain cramp by Beckman.

Whenever you see the same guy score on two kickoffs in the same quarter, you have to think you're either watching a game where the defenses are still in the locker room, you're watching a scrimmage against the 1's and 2's, or you're watching a Playstation3 game.

I'd rather keep Fickell as head coach. Also, wasn't Beckman a defensive coordinator prior to becoming head coach?

Last night wasn't his finest hour on multiple fronts. Pass.
