Myles Garrett (DE Los Angeles Rams)

Sources: Rams' Myles Garrett to have knee surgery, headed to IR

Rams defensive end Myles Garrett will have arthroscopic surgery on his knee and be placed on injured reserve, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Sunday.

Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, will miss at least the next four games. He is eligible to return to the roster for the Rams' Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

After the Rams' season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Garrett said his knee was not 100% healthy going into the game. He called his performance against San Francisco "the worst version of myself that I've put out there."

Garrett missed most of training camp with what Rams coach Sean McVay called swelling in Garrett's knee. After the Week 1 game in Melbourne, Australia, Garrett declined to say which knee is injured, but he wore a sleeve on his left leg during several practices.
