My PS3 logs off whenever I quit a game.

It's like my internet connection hiccups. It's not just the PS3, but the connection all over my house. Whenever I quit a game (go back to the cross bar), my connection logs off for a moment. I have to manually log back in on the PS3. My computer logs back in automatically.

This wouldn't be a big deal except that it means I can't download patches. To download a patch, the system quits the game to star the process. The problem is, I get about 15% through the download when I'm logged off and the process is stopped.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Its the PS3's way of saying, "You suck, kid. Practice against the CPU some more and leave online play where it belongs. At the adult table."

WiFi? What type of router/switch are you using? Do you know what type of encryption you're using? WEP, WPA, 40-bit, 128-bit, etc ...?

I've rebooted everything. I even unplugged it all and let it sit for a while.

I was thinking router problem as well. I'm using a Linksys Broadband Wireless router. I do use a WEP, but I entered it into the PS3 as well. However, I have my PS3 connected via wire. I found that I would constantly get disconnected when I tried to go wireless.

I also wonder if traffic has something to do with it. It seems the only time I'm successful downloading patches is at 3am.
