Well, born in '74 so my record is now 20-18-1.

I few of my personal observations and feelings about this years edition of The Game since I don't have the time to plow through all the posts to find the "right" thread.
A mere 3 hours after the conclusion of The Game, Wiki is already updated.
I confess, I didn't wear my lucky Woody hat until the 2-point conversion. Should have put it on sooner, it would have saved us all some stress.
When people ask if I want Michigan to be better for the sake of the rivalry, I point to 2-10-1. We have finally brought balance back to the rivalry, and I'm happy to let our momentum (and wins) over TSUN to carry far into the future.
As you can see from my previous post (#75), the parallels from the '69 game came way too close for comfort.
TSUN had obviously heard all week how they were a sorry bunch of losers with no chance to win and they came out swinging with a lot of emotion, which gave them the edge they needed to compete.
This win prevents the start of another 10-year war based on a dramatic Ohio State upset and the end of a historical win streak. We would have been subjected to another whole painful chapter of great moments in TSUN history, complete with highlights, documentaries and mythology.
Our streak will eventually come to an end, and the one team that I don't want it to come against is TSUN. Let it be to anyone but them.
This game reminded me of the '88 game, except in reverse. In that game, Ohio State played out of its mind on offense and held the lead in the final minutes of the 4th quarter. Kolesar would catch a bomb to put put TSUN up for good as Ohio State QB Greg Frey would throw an INT on the final drive.
You can never really predict the outcome of The Game. It will betray you. We as Buckeye fans had become a bit overconfident due to the win streak and the still fresh smell of victory over the Rich Rod teams.
I believe the series is now 46-46 since 1918, the year both schools became B1G members.
I've haven't been this frustrated at our defense since the '95 game. You may recall we played a soft zone, bend but don't break style of defense and were gashed on the ground all day. The DC at the time, Bill Young, would leave to be replaced by Fred Pagac who would give birth to the name and concept of "Silver Bullets" by playing press defense.
I'm not saying I want a DC coaching change, but this 3-3-5 philosophy employed by Fickell just doesn't seem to be working. Talent is also an issue.
It didn't seem like we were rotating the D-line very much - and I think fatigue became a reason for our inability to get pressure on Gardner. Is this reflective of Vrable's NFL mindset (i.e. not rotating, only playing the best 4)?
Are Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, and Iowa all better on defense than us? Did TSUN's interior line finally figure out how to block? I don't think so... but how do you explain giving up 600 yards of offense to perhaps the worst offense in the B1G and in history in the TSUN?
Looking ahead to next year, players will come and go, but both teams should return their starting QB's which should keep the quality of play high on offense for both teams while each needs another couple of years restock needed talent on the defensive side of the ball (LB, CB, and S for Ohio State).
I thought Herman pressed the vertical passing too much and could have to TE and WR slant routes more...otherwise, pretty hard to complain with anything on offense. I'll take 42 points against TSUN in AA any year.

I haven't updated this thread (or any for that matter) in a while... I guess the concept has caught on here.
There's a pretty cool site that will calculate team vs. team record during a specific time frame here.
To update my own record...
I was born in '74 so my record is now 23-19-1.

A couple of thoughts since it may be a while again...
Looks like I miscounted on my last post, had to add another loss.
When the game ended, I literally fell face first to the ground and started hitting in for stress relief. Come to find out a few hours later Meyer had the same reaction.
This was the most intense game I can remember since '02. By the time the game was finished my throat was sore, not hoarse mind you, from screaming (I was at a tailgate party); like muscles sore from contracting so much from the stress.
I wanted this one badly, and so did they.
Even though the '06 game featured #1 vs. #2, it never quite had the intensity factor for me as '02 or '16.
In the '06 game, by this point Tressel had a well established track record of winning against TSUN and we were ahead by 2 scores for the majority of the game.
The '02 game, like the '16, we were playing behind for the majority of the game with an offense that just couldn't seem to get going.
The '02 game, like the '16, I wasn't sure if we could win two years in a row, meaning...
Being born in the mid-70's I had never known Ohio State to win 2 consecutive games against TSUN - until '02.
(Yeah, I guess they did it in '74 & '75, and again in '81 & '82, but I was in the 2nd grade in '82 - didn't even know about Ohio State at that point.)
I was in 6th grade living in Woodhaven, MI when Harbaugh made his famous guarantee and delivered on it. I was scarred for life.
I knew Harbaugh was going to do everything in his power to win this game, could we win 2 consecutive games against him?
I'm sure it's a consensus that the "official" record of 58-48-6 is lame, I'm taking our 49 victories (counting the vacated win in 2010).
I will be able to die in peace when we take the all-time lead in the series.
