THEOhioState

This Week, In Sam I Trust
Hello, fans of tOSU!

This is my first thread, but I am a long-time viewer.

Anybody ever watch ESPN Classic's Who's #1? It seems very kind to tOSU!

In their countdown of best college football traditions, a certain script formation by a certain band was number-one: meanwhile, a certain fight song from a not too popular rival barely cracked the top 20!

Also, in their countdown of the 20 biggest NFL draft busts- no Buckeyes!

(BTW, do YOU believe in the Penn State RB curse? I don't- Larry Johnson and Franco Harris certainly weren't jinxed in the pros)

However, in their list of the 20 biggest upsets, the 2OT Fiesta win over Miami cracked the top 10.

Being young enough to remember the Cooper years, surprised that the 1998 Michigan State game didn't make it?

That's my first thread- I'll have many more!

Remember- only 81 more days until we play you-know-who!

Hmmm... are you suggesting that some of us are too OLD to remember the Cooper years and the MSU game? Well, that might be true, but it would be wise not to tease us old-farts about our loss of memory.

Anyways, I'll spend my 1000th post congratulating you on your first.... now, where's the Patron and my kid's light saber?

I thought our "he who must not be named" had a name that began with 5 'L's.
I think he's named with glee.

Nope. Plenty of games like that... aka Oregon St over USC last year (which involved a more hyped "dynasty" and MSU 98 ****> OrSU 06).

imo, the top 3 college football games of all time were.

1) Standford vs Cal (if you dont know what i'm talking about, quit now)
2) 2003 Fiesta Bowl - double OT, are you kidding?
3) 2007 Fiesta Bowl - fucking statue of liberty, honestly now...

Thanks for the responses, but it seems that my original questions are not getting answers.

For the record, you guys call Michigan scUM; I call them you-know-who.

As for Yertle, I didn't meet to offend anyone older; I'm just trying to explain that my first memories of tOSU were when John Cooper coached.

Welcome to the board. No, I find ESPN's coverage to be absolute crap. It's like watching two or three idiots at the barber shop argue from points of equal ignorance about nothing of consequence. Who give a shit where they rate TBDBITL? What wants to see Brutus Buckeye pretend to pummel some idiot who has a lower IQ than a snail?

If Herbie's expressing an opinion, then I'll watch it. If the Buckeyes are on, I'll watch it. Otherwise, I think it would be more enjoyable to watch paint dry.

That was a big upset and stuff. But it didn't have the national spotlight the way the 2OT game did. Sure, any time #1 plays, its a national spotlight game, but it was just a mid-season game, compared to EVERY college football fan watching the national championship game. I think that the hype leading up to the upset is as important as the upset, itself, when it comes to these lists.

Congratulations, and welcome to the 1000 post club. The beer is at the bar. $7.00. I know - it's a rip-off. But every Thursday we get to play charades, and, if there's time, a duck-duck-goose tournament. (BB73 is the reigning five-time champion, but Mili almost beat him last week.)
