I was wondering if anyone here shares music on AIM? At the behest of one of my friends who does it, I've been reorganizing my music collection and making it available for download through AIM. I was wondering if anyone on here is currently doing the same, or interested in doing the same. I figured that among several of the regulars here, we could get a pretty bitchin' music network goin'. I'm only set up to share with people on my buddy list, so if you want, you can send me and IM or PM telling me who you are, and I'll get you added on.

I'm in the process of reorganizing my music too. My significant other bought me a 40Gb iPod for Christmas, but I use Linux. :tongue2: So ... I've got to go back through everything (about 1700 albums), remove all the screwey characters that Windows XP doesn't support (like colons and question-marks) and convert all my IDv1 tags to IDv2.2.

It's been a major pain in the ass. I started alphabetically about a month ago and I'm up to 'Foo Fighters.' :(

I don't use AIM, but I've got ICQ, IRC, and FTP all running 24/7.

Edit: Just went and checked and I have almost 1900 songs now :p.

Hubbard, I added you to my buddy list. You should still be able to fileshare on AIM with dial-up it'll just be REEEEAAAAAALLLLLLYYYYYY slow. It doesn't bother me though, I have several friends with dial-up that I share with.

I actually have AOL and broadband :p. Ok just added you, now I have to figure out what the hell I am doing (hint hint). And no making fun of some of the songs. I did a lot of CDs for many others in the past.

All you do is right-click on the person's s/n and select "Get File..." If they have everything set up right, the rest should be a can o' corn.

And to set yours up, click on the "My AIM" menu at the top of your Buddy List, select "Edit Options," then "Edit Preferences." In the menu on the left in the window that pops up, click on "File Sharing." Then under "Shared File Location" at the top, click the "Browse" button. Find the folder with your songs in it, select it, then save your settings. This is the folder you'll be sharing, and it's where the files you download will end up.

Ahh cool, cept I don't have "My AIM" on top of my buddy list, but I am exploring at the moment. I think I may just download AIM, to make things simple.

I still have a ton more too. I have about 20 more CDs to rip, and I am downloading new stuff too. Also, once I get all of my "loosies" organized, I'll have them up too. 99% of what I have in there is full albums right now.
