I don't know that I've ever seen a blade on the field before. I believe he is a Jr this year.

Koni Dole, a football player with Huntley Project High School in Montana, will take the field just like thousands of others across the country Friday night as the football season opens. One difference though: Dole will do so while playing with a blade prosthesis after the Montana High School Association cleared him to play.

That number might be off by a few.

According to theKRTV.com report, Montana State has already offered Dole preferred walk on status to its football team.

Mods if the set up is wrong please fix. Based on that video I'd guess he's a TE or H back, not sure though.

has there been a recruit from Montana that we have tracked in the past? I cant recall any

I can't recall any in my time here at BP. One of the few big national recruits that I can remember from Montana was a DE from Lewistown, MT(my area) named Mike? Anderson. Anderson was 6'7" 235 pounds as a HS senior, and reportedly ran a sub-4.7/40 at a testing event. If I remember correctly either Rivals or Scout had him as the number 3 DE in the nation that year. Very crazy considering that he would never face an O-lineman of the skill that a player at any big HS football power would play against. Anderson signed with Stanford, blew out his knee, ended up back at Montana State, without much fanfare.

A player that was made a big deal of within the state and actually backed it up in his college career was Ryan Leaf. I doubt if he was a big national recruit.

According to a quick search I did Montana has averaged about one player a year signing with a BCS school the last 5 years...with Brock Osweiler being one of the biggest names in recent memory. According to Scout 2008 was a big year when Montana had four kids sign with BCS schools.

Matt Miller is probably the best receiver the blue field smurfs have...freshman A-A in 2011 and all-conference last year.

A couple of years ago when listening to the NFL draft on Serius radio Gil Brandt said that at that time there were more players per capita from Montana in the NFL than any other state. Obviously there is some talent produced, but it is rare when the PAC-10 schools are up here banging around as in the cases of Osweiler, Leaf, and Anderson.
