MSU to OSU, do I need a Sweater Vest?

Sparty

Newbie
Earlier this week I got a letter that sent shockwaves through my entire family. Despite having roots in Michigan dating back over 200 years, I was accepted in The Ohio State University Grad school. Some were proud I made it into such a prestigious school... others I will simply have to cherish the memories made while they were still talking to me.

This is a strange feeling for me as well. I was taught all my life that you people did things like wear vests while eating babies for dinner. However, I assume this isn't true (although I cannot be certain at this point). I was just wondering if anyone could help me as I try to learn more about your ways before moving there in the fall. At this point I am willing to be open minded (should I buy a sweater vests?) and hopefully we can all get all.

If it makes you feel any better you should know I went to MSU and can relate to your attitudes towards a certain in Ann Arbor.

does any know of any good sites for student information.

at msu we had a site called allmsu. it was like craigslist + message boards + professor and appartment rankings + dating site.

it was really hopefully, i found jobs, roomates, bought and sold stuff, check out profs and every things.

i was wondering if osu had anything like that?

Not true at all, that's just more ridiculous anti-OSU propaganda.

Babies are for lunch. :chompy:

We didn't have the internet when I went to tOSU so I'm afraid I can't help you.

But congratulations and welcome.

thanks everyone, I am excited to be joining up to be studying communications with a focus on social computing.

As far as the babies thing goes, I will be sure to spread the word around michigan and correct anyone who is spreading lies.

Congrats.

As a die-hard Buckeye raised by Spartans in Michigan, I always found that the two teams were rarely at odds with each other. Other than a bitter OSU fan who can't let go of 98, which saved us from a cooper NC berth and extension, there is very little bad blood between the programs. Until Matta, the programs didn't really threaten the other in their premiere sport. Even with Matta, the two programs compliment each other in big ten play and make the league and resumes stronger.

The football program - and coach himself - is modeled directly after Tressel, his mentor. There is a lot of respect for a former Buckeye, particularly the architect of the NC winning D, and a shared enemy in Michigan. Now that MSU is headed to the wrong division with UM, the respect and admiration should continue since the direct threat to success will be infrequent.

Three7 on the scout network is a UM fan who made the same transition, complete with moving here. He is one of the best UM fans around and would probably be able to offer wevice from a fellow missionary into treacherous lands.

Don't forget those who can't let go of '74. :wink2:

I am very happy to hear that the hate is directed towards those UM and not the state in general. When I was a kid the word "Ohio" was considered a swear word. My dad use to change the channel for the Drew Carey theme song when he shouted "OHIO" at the end. I am happy to hear that are neighbors to the south are more open minded. Luckily, he has been supportive and proud that I got into such a good school.

I am probably going to come for a short (a day or two) visit sometime in the next month, is there anything I should make sure I see on campus or in columbus on my visit?
