No, I see your point...and its a good point. Its easy to hate someone who is so good at their profession and who has wealth beyond our dreams. I'll probably still think he is a whiny bitch but your comments will jade that approach.

Could very well come across that way to many. I think the lens we look at Arod through might influence each persons interpretation.

I personally think the guys a great player and a class act. The things people rip him for reek of pettiness and jealousy too much for my taste.
When he says there were 6 other teams who wanted him, thats where he's holding it over there heads, IMO. Your of course entitled to your own.. i have no beef with a rod.. he reminds me of brady quinn though.. folds under pressure but a damn good ball player when its the regular season :)

He probably is that but its not the type of flaw people like.

Big ego, whiny bitch, cheater sure hasn't worked for Bonds.
Party animal/poon' hound worked well for Namath/Jeter/Mantle.
Will to win makes him a fucking prick worked well for guys like Butkus/Bird
Fat slob, regualr joe like me works for John Daley/John Kruk

Not many people can realate to the good looking, nice guy, filthy rich superstar athlete. Jordan is the only one I can think of but he had much more of an edge about him along the lines of manical drive to win than Arod does. Maybe Staubach, he was just before my time so I don't remember clearly how people felt about him when he was still playing. In my limited recollection, outside of Dallas fans he wasn't well liked.

Ultimately I think the thing that kills him is the same thing that got Wilt. Superstar but a loser when it counts whether that be fair or not.

Torre: Rodriguez Was Wrong to Distract Fielder
Saturday, June 2, 2007; Page E06

Even Joe Torre says Alex Rodriguez was out of line. The Yankees manager concluded A-Rod shouldn't have distracted a Toronto fielder this week during a popup, joining a chorus of baseball people who said Rodriguez broke the sport's unwritten code.

"He may have been excited about the fact that we were leading the ballgame," Torre said yesterday. "It was probably inappropriate to do it at the time he did it, but you can't change it, unfortunately."

The play occurred in the ninth inning of New York's 10-5 win in Toronto on Wednesday night. With the Yankees leading 7-5, Rodriguez was on first base and ran hard when Jorge Posada popped up. As he ran near 3B Howie Clark, Rodriguez said something and the ball dropped for a run-scoring single.

When the game ended, many Toronto players stayed on the bench, staring at Rodriguez and New York's players.

Rodriguez says he hasn't decided if he'll leave Yankees; agent has plan in mind

If Alex Rodriguez opts out of his contract with the Yankees -- and as of Monday night's loss to Cleveland, it's still a big if because Rodriguez wasn't giving any hints and said he hasn't even thought about it -- his agent Scott Boras will prepare one of his trademark free agent books based on the premise that Rodriguez is the most valuable player in baseball history.

After the World Series, Rodriguez has 10 days to opt out of the final three years and $81 million of his contract. The Yankees would like to extend him before he hits the market because Texas is still paying more than $20 million of Rodriguez's contract.

Does anybody realize that Jeter had just as terrible a post season as ARod did?

The rush to bash ARod for choking is getting a little out of hand.
Where does Arod rank on the yankees not living up to expectations this season?

Everyone expects this from arod, but still bashes him for it when it happens.
