  • I ride and love it. Can get a good 4 or 5 beers in while doing so.

Being able drink while mowing is reason enough to purchase a riding mower if you don't have one.

I push, although it's a self-propelled mower. I've got a pretty good sized yard, but it's not enough for me to justify the expense of a riding mower.

And here's a solution to the drinking problem....

Don't have enough garage for a rider... all three bays are filled with cars... plus other 'stuff... and Iambrutus only charges me $45 per mowing... and his crew finishes in an hour... it'd take me a half day... edging, trimming, blowers... especially trimming along a one+ acre fenced area .. before the fence... occasionally I'd push... and it'd take 5 hours just to mow the back two..

I ride, my yard is an acre to acre and a half. It is hotter than hell here so I do it Friday nights. Bermuda grass so it gets mowed every week. It is a two to three beer job. Weed whack and edge takes about an hour.

Now we know that gas and mowing services are cheaper in NJ. I could not get the local kids to do my yard for $50. The services all wanted $100-$150. Maybe the price will go down now that I have about 50 less trees.

I can't imagine mowing my grass year round. Does the grass slow down its growth in the wintertime at all?
