[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A woman who was hearing voices tossed her three young children off a pier into San Francisco Bay, authorities said. Rescuers had found one body, and the other two children were feared dead.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]The mother, Lashaun Harris, 23, of Oakland, was booked on three counts of murder, the San Francisco Chronicle reported in Thursday's editions. Her children were identified as Trayshaun Harris, 6, Travante Greely, 3, and Joshua Harris, 1.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]A child's body was found about four hours after a witness reported seeing a woman drop the children into the bay near Pier 7 Wednesday, said Jonathan Guerra of the U.S. Coast Guard.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]The San Francisco Examiner reported Thursday that the body of the 3-year-old had been recovered.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]While rescuers searched for the children, an empty stroller was visible on the pier. A small inflatable Coast Guard boat was hugging the water front as rescuers used hand-held flashlights to search under the pier. Larger Coast Guard and San Francisco police boats were searching the water with high-powered flashlights.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]Mayor Gavin Newsom came to the scene to get briefed by authorities and would only tell reporters, "I'm sick to my stomach," before leaving.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]Lashaun Harris told authorities that voices had told her to throw her children into the water, the Chronicle reported. It was not immediately known whether she had an attorney.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]She had been staying with her children at a Salvation Army shelter in Oakland, Mary Ann Ramirez, the social services manager of the shelter, told the Chronicle.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]"I just talked to her yesterday," Ramirez said Wednesday. "We had our usual how are you doing, how's the kids. I would never have guessed in a million years that today she would do that."[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]The incident happened in the Embarcadero area, which draws tourists to the historic Ferry Building within view of Coit Tower and the landmark Transamerica pyramid. The fishing pier offers views of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, ships in the bay, as well as Treasure Islands.

Just illustrates how serious untreated mental illness can be.

I was just watching some of it on CNN... first I heard of it. I couldn't even watch the whole story... I had to change the channel. Very sad when things like this happen.

Thump, you are absolutely right, it is a SERIOUS illness. STill doesn't make me feel any better for those poor kids, though...wow.

I just watched this online.... had to turn it off.

I'd be all for dipping different parts of her body in freezing water at different times until their severely frostbitten then sticking her in a room so she can watch her limbs and appendages slowly turn black, rot, and fall off.

After that throw you can have her to throw off a bridge.

While I recognize that three children are dead due to this woman's actions, I have to see the big picture. She was being treated for a serious mental illness. And according to her half sister, she was recently taken off her medication by a physician. While I cannot blame the doctor for this incident, I can hold some level of responsibility on her sister who had heard her talk about feeding her kids to the sharks but did nothing knowing she could very well do it.

All that said, put the bitch out of our misery.
