Most Underrated NFL Player Of All Time

LoKyBuckeye

I give up. This board is too hard to understand.
to go with Thumps Overrated thread... how about underrated?

I'd go with Brett Favre

seriously... Steve Largent. One of my favorites growing up... he's in the HOF but I don't think he gets recogzied as much as he should these days... Marvin Harrison reminds me of him.

Easy...Randy Gradishar...HOF material for sure, and the best player on the Orange Crush

Also:

Art Monk...how is he not in the HOF?

John Stallworth...way, way better than Swann, but still has second fiddle status from his own team

Ken Anderson...great QB, one of the all-time leaders in comp. %

Steve Bartkowski

Chris Spielman

Lester Hayes...should be in the HOF

Steve Atwater

Art Monk's average season: 59 catches, 795 yards, 4 TDs

Sterling Sharpe's average season: 85 catches, 1162 yards, 9 TDs

Nothing against Monk - I grew up a Redskin fan and always loved the guy - but if you want to talk about underrated/underappreciated receivers, Sharpe tops the list.

sharpe had great seasons, but his injury hampered his chances IMO. #39 on TDs, etc. He was one of my favorite non-skins to watch back in the day.

one final homer vote:
Darrell Green... could outrun almost everyone half his age before retiring. Absolute class act, and a pretty good player too.

I am 100% in agreement. Sterling Sharpe was so underrated. I remember seeing so many great hookups between him and Favre...

I'm not a Browns fan, and I know he's in the HOF, but I don't think that Ozzie Newsome gets much credit nationally for being one of the best TEs of all time.

I hear about Ditka and Kellen Winslow, Sr. a lot, but not much about Ozzie.
