• Smith: Lions will make '09 playoffs

    Views 409 Comments 10
On his personal blog, Smith34.com, Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith predicted, no wait, promised the Lions will make the NFL Playoffs in 2009. It makes you wonder, did he watch the video tape? "I won't make a prediction about how many games we're going to win, but I will say this: We will definitely make the playoffs this season. "Believe it or not we weren't far off last year. Almost every game we could have won, we were one play or one player short. Except for Tennessee on Thanksgiving, they just came out and beat us to sleep. They manhandled us, but nobody else did.'' The Lions weren't far off? They were 0-16.

I'm really enjoying this comment right now.

Except for Tennessee on Thanksgiving, they just came out and beat us to sleep.

    "Beat us to sleep"

Stupid to predict this, but I do think they got a lot better.. now if they'd address that offensive line I might not think it was that stupid.. but still. 0-16 to predicting playoffs is never a good idea.

You'd think everyone on last year's Lions team would be at least a little humble.

You'd think. But, they will have an awful OL and probably a rookie QB behind it. Not to mention an awful defense. If they win 4-5 games, it will be a remarkable achievement.

I don't mind a guy having confidence in his team. Now, if he comes out talking trash about upcoming opponents that's another story.

    "Bhagdad Kevin" has arrived! :slappy:

If Tennessee beat them to sleep then apparently NO beat them until their nipples fell off :slappy:

James Harrison may have trumped Mr. Smith for idiocy...

"If you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don't win the Super Bowl. As far as I'm concerned, he would have invited Arizona if they had won.''
--Steelers linebacker James Harrison, explaining why he will refuse to accompany his team on a trip to the White House to see President Obama, in quite possibly the most nonsensical quote ever uttered by a professional athlete.

    What a fucking moron. :slappy:
