My town is far from being a 'metro'.. but this town is so mundane that the Police blog in the local newspaper is rarely more than mailbox destruction listings... coupled with traffic tickets given for not wearing seat belts or using cell phones

I'm surprised Anchorage, Alaska didn't make the list. I lived there for a few years and that place was creepy. It wasn't so much the gang violence although there was some it was more random acts of violence against strangers. The streets are full of convicts and mental patients and the long cold dark winter nights do crazy things to people. I never felt safe walking around there and I've lived in some major cities.
