physical distance is absolutely immaterial... when you're talking about metro markets (and sited as 'cities' in studies and surveys)... secondary and tertiary markets/towns are automatically rolled into whatever the major metro media footprint consists of... whether they like the association or not... and state boundaries are immaterial as well...

unless that study specifically listed Ann Arbor as a market option.. which is highly unlikely... it's part of Detroit...

that being said.. it was obvious the intent of the thread was to poke fun at a competitor... so you'd think someone on this site would be amused and go with it... even giving it latitude since it helps the cause... unless someone's persona is to make sure everything is as miserable as he is... sad... guess it's time to see how the ignore feature works

In a May 21, 1999 FCC filing, Blackstar of Ann Arbor, Inc. licensee of WBSX-TV (channel 31) petitioned the FCC to immediately reconsider the FCC decision that somehow removed them from the Detroit metropolitan statistical area designation. The FCC amended their ruling within days.

Detroit market is referred to as Detroit-Ann Arbor-Flint.. verifiable by every marketing or advertising firm.. and all media sources.. Listed as same within www.census.gov

Source for the survey - Men's Fitness Magazine lists its methodology.
"How We Did It

The 50 largest U.S. cities were selected using the most recent United States Census Bureau statistics available at the time of the survey, which was conducted from August 2003 through October 2003. Cities were assessed in 14 equally weighted categories, using data specific to each city, except as noted when data was available only for a metropolitan statistical area or for a state."

They then site that they used metropolitan statistical areas for the top 30 MSA/'cities' (which includes Detroit MSA). See FCC ruling validating Ann Arbor is part of the Detroit metropolitan statistical area (MSA).:groove:

but in normal Tibor fashion, he'll pipe back up with some arrogant and immature response that we've come to expect... leopards don't change their spots

Yes, obviously Ann Arbor despite contributing 1/100 of the population of Detroit, accounts for an amazing percentage of the fatasses there.

Hilarious that people will spend hours on the internet to prove Tibor wrong.
