I was a baseball card collector when I was a kid. One day when we were moving my father decided that we didn't need the extra weight and threw them away. He didn't tell, I just noticed they were gone and asked him about them. he said that he thought that I'd outgrown them. These were cards I'd collected from between 1972-1981. My Mad magazine collection also went into the garbage.

A 1980 Topps PSA 10 Rickey Henderson goes for about $150k.

I saw it late. Of course you need a human back there to do the other stuff but calling balls and strikes should be out of their hands about 3 years ago.
Disagree to agree. I know the 3B ump has little to do, but I really don't want to force the home plate ump to just stand there doing nothing for almost the entire game. The head tap will be enough, imho.

The fully automated system is what I am talking about. Been in the stadium with a game using it. They just get word from ear piece of what to call for balls and strikes. It works perfect if that’s is what you mean by a head tap

That’s not how it works. They still call balls and strikes based on the AI data in their earpiece.

When I played I don't know how many 3B coaches I baited into waving a runner home while I held the ball in the outfield for a second or two. Threw every one of them out at the plate. My coach chewed my ass but the bottom line is I got the outs. One was in the top of the 7th (Babe Ruth League)in a tied game. They had a runner one first with two outs and their best hitter at the plate. The base runner stole second and the catcher overthrew second base. I was playing center, backing up the play. I picked up the ball, looked at the 3B coach for a second and he waved the runner home. Nailed him. My teammates were cheering me. When I got to the dugout I got an ass chewing. We won the game in the bottom of the inning.
