For all the complaints about the “best” teams getting knocked out by wild card teams both CS series have been outstandingWell now, I was quick to write off the D-Backs but they're putting up a fight. Nice comeback. Still think the Phillies win, but credit to Arizona.
Astros' Abreu facing 2-game suspension for HBP
Astros relief pitcher Bryan Abreu is facing a two-game suspension for hitting Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia with a 99 mph fastball during Game 5 of the ALCS.www.espn.comAstros' Bryan Abreu facing 2-game suspension for plunking Adolis Garcia
Astros relief pitcher Bryan Abreu has been handed a two-game suspension in the wake of his controversial hit by pitch of Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia, which sparked a benches-clearing incident and a near brawl in the late stages of Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Friday night.
Major League Baseball noted in its news release that "all six of the major league umpires deemed Abreu's pitch to have been intentional" in ejecting him from the game, adding that the league "took into account the dangerous nature of the pitch and its potential impact on player safety" in doling out the suspension.
Just sayin':
1) How could all six umpires know that hitting Garcia was intentional. Besides being down 4-2, in the 8th, with a runner on first and no one out; why would you want to put another runner on base at that point in the game?
2) I think it could just be payback for cheating in 2017.
Rangers bring on LeClerc looking for a five out save. I've got about as much confidence in him pulling it off as the four out attempt in game 5.
They can pull LeClerc now and save his arm for game seven. Garcia just blew this thing wide open.
