Tibbs: "thereby preventing him from attending scUM."

Jeter actually took some classes at scUM towards his degree. I think he stopped, but his intentions are to finish his Bachelors from scUM after he retires.

Cox will be a solid contributor for the yanks. He has been lights out for the horns over the past couple of years. Very similar make up to huston street who is already having a great rookie year for the A's. Could become the heir apparent to rivera (what an unenviable task) At the least he gives you a set up man. Regardless he will be in the bigs sooner rather than later. Here is a link to get you by.

To me, they can extend Rivera's career if they can put some quality set-up arms in front of him. He's not young enough anymore to get the 2-Inning, shut the door save.

Hopefully this kid can be it. The Yanks gave away two quality relievers in Brazoban & Marte who could be filling that role right now.

i dont know anything about brazoban but marte can't handle being in the south of chicago, how do you think he could be a yankie?

You are right though, the yankies have a well documented history of dealing prospects for hired guns. Cox can help that team the boss should hang on to him.

doubt this matters, but he did grow up just around the corner from a famous yankie lefty, Andy Pettite

Given the lack of quality lefthanded relievers in baseball (especially on the Yankees), Marte would be picture perfect for the Yanks, even if he's struggled for the White Sox. He's got a good arm, doesn't make a lot of money, and has some upside. He's way better than what they have now.

The team has publicly stated its intentions to get younger. I hope they won't deal away any of their kids the next few seasons.

High Lonesome: "i dont know, did they? the only ones that i knew of were pettite and jeter. there could be more i don't claim to be a NY historian. (i am assuming that they did from you post)"

Bernie Williams, Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Pettite, Jorge Posada, and (to a lesser extent) Jim Leyrtiz. They built up a Championship core in the minor leagues, and then made astute trades (Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, etc.), astute FA acquisitions (Joe Girardi, David Wells, etc.), and then bought some players (David Cone, Roger Clemens, etc.) to surround the core.

Tibbs: Wow, does that pic bring back memories. But Taylor wasn't a bust (necessarily).

Regardless of the reason, he WAS a bust.
