Mixed Martial Arts (Official Thread)

Mixed reviews from my point of view. Obviously Rampage has been a monster. Dan Henderson fought well in his loss to Rampage, and certainly would have been enough to beat most light heavyweights. Anderson Silva has been unstoppable so far. Cro Cop has been disappointing. Have to say was really surprised to see Shogun lose, although Griffin is certainly no pushover.

I don't follow MMA as closely as some on here. How big of a difference are the rules and octagon compared to the pride rules and boxing ring? Enough to affect someones game?

Rua was gassed by the middle of the 2nd round. Hands down at his waist, breathing heavy. It was embarrassing really. I'm very surprised Dana didn't give Shogun some jobber to start his UFC career with like they did Cro Cop. Forrest is a tough fucker.

Forrest is tough, but Shogun should still win this fight every time. Shogun did just get married last week so that might have something to do with it. I'm pretty surprised that he did gas though after just the first round. I think he will be back and get back on track, but then again I thought the same thing about Crocop. The problem that Shogun and Wanderlei will have with the UFC rules is no knees or stomps on the ground. (and gotta get off the juice too)

As far as the PRIDE fighters coming over to the UFC, I still think PRIDE had a better LHW division, and Nog will probably own the HW division. Of course if Fedor comes over he will dominate, but he won't because Dana is a fucking prick. Anderson Silva is a beast and his only competition is Dan Henderson.

Im not a Shogun fan he has shown this kind of slopyness before. I.E. putting his arms out when getting taken down. His cardio was off. I dont think he respected forrest at all. He got beat by a TUF contestant. F-him and his whole chute box crew that has no respect for american fighters.

One thing they allow (in PRIDE) that shogun is known for is stomping and kicking an opponent when they are on the ground, but he was gassed and sloppy. Another thing thats nice is if you are a ground and pound guy you can use the cage to pin people against and use your elbows in the UFC.

Like Griffey, Liddell retirement talk is premature

After dropping a split-decision to Keith Jardine on Saturday at UFC 76, former champ Chuck Liddell now deals with the first back-to-back losses of his remarkable career. And while the most dominant champion in UFC history has entered uncharted territory, it's far too soon to feed him to the sharks.
With Liddell's July TKO loss to Quinton Jackson and Saturday's decision loss to Jardine, the pundits argue it's time for the 37-year-old Liddell to hang up the gloves.

To give everyone an update from Kimbo. He has decided not to fight in CFFC vs Tank Abbott. The guy who owns CFFC is shady and has grown a bad reputation for payment. So, Kimbo or Combo Rey Fuentes will not be entering the CFFC anymore. IFC doesn't pay well, so that is not an option. Kimbo has been casted for a movie (and I'm trying to get Combo in it).. so I'll let you guys know where he ends up deciding to fight next.

Kimbo is a brawler, not a MMA fighter. He would be slaughtered against someone decent. He just seems like a circus act. Sucks about Randy, one of the greatest MMA fighters ever.

You base this on footage you've seen on the internet. What I'm certain you are unaware of is the amount of training he's been putting in to his ground game for last few years. His fights on the net are pure stand up. He is also in the best shape of his life and has a lot of financial backing and intensive daily training. He is far from a "circus act". Mark my words, just sit back and watch.

Let's face it, most MMA fighters are scumbags. I watched Lidell run around a strip club yacked out of his mind, shirtless. The Gannon fight was at least 3 years ago. But, whatever it's cool. You're entitled to your opinion and free to like whoever you want.

What promotions would Kimbo be likely to end up in? Isn't his time running out with his age?
