I was more careful when I typed 'Appalachian' in the search box. :! (edit - it found about 200 posts)

But I knew that was a word that would often not be typed accurately, so I wasn't too hopeful for my search.

Jeezus H. Christ!! Will y'all just let Appalachian State be? Yes, I am the poster who teaches at App State (and I'm proud of my tOSU PhD). And yes, we do admit our share of over-privileged air-heads (but we also were dropped from Princeton's list of top 20 party schools). So you know, we have the highest percentage of terminally degreed faculty in the UNC System (higher than NC State and Chapel Hill) and we are the 3rd ranked public institution in the state (behind only Chapel Hill and NC State). We're a pretty damned good "comprehensive" university.

So what about "hot, hot, hot?" That was the ill-concieved brainchild of our new (as of 3 years ago) Chancellor Ken Peacock. It was produced for his inaugural tour (get it?--proud as a peacock). Dude is a mile wide and an inch deep.

Insider information--Peacock wanted to fire head FB coach Jerry Moore when he came in (too old, too stodgy). So Coach Moore promptly went out and won Back to Back National Championships. Now Ken Peacock is his greatest cheerleader. The game at tsun will be Coach Moore's 300th contest as a Head Coach.
