Minnesota & Purdue are the Big10 powers now

Well- This thread is the whole great illustration of why there is the Big 2 and the little 8 or 9.

On this Minnesota thing... Look, these guys are still behind Wisconsin... nevermind Ohio State and Michigan... They are the Kansas State of the Big 10. Play some creampuffs... roll up 3 or 4 OOC games by recruiting Ohio State and Michigan Rejects and hopefully beat Indiana and Northwestern, Eek out one more win and play in a bowl game... Hey, Mason's doing his job... these guys still don't have a lot of street cred yet though... Sure, they beat us a couple years ago, but didn't Toledo take them to the woodshed the next year? They haven't won consistently against the top half of the Big Ten yet.

Purdue... They are a lot more legit to me. They've had either good D's and Good O's over the last 5 or 6 years... they haven't put it together yet... and recruiting ahsn't been quite where it needs to be... but Tiller's doing well with a bunch of Train Drivers.

I wouldn't call Ernie Wheelwright a OSU reject. That ohio boy might burn a couple Big Ten schools this year. One of the 60 yard TD catches I saw of his this year looked pretty impressive!!! Hell at least Minnesota can win their Bowl Games...I mean there were alot of teams in the Big Ten that choked!!!

I'll take a private bet with anyone who wants to take Purdue with 3+ losses.
I'm not sure enough to bet on it. They could stay on an incredible roll. My gut feeling says they lose 3 (2 regular and a bowl game), because I don't think they're as good as everyone says... but I've been wrong before.

Talent was not the reason we passed on Wheelwright!!!! I guarantee it!!!

I think we all know that... Talent isn't the only thing that makes a great COLLEGE football player. Kid has to be able to play... to his credit, he's gotten his act together and he's on the field...but that's a risk for Minny to take... not us.
