Minnesota game next year

Is there a reason why we play them at home two years in a row?

I was expecting it to be a road game since we played them at home this year.

Only other time I remember this happening was Wisconsin a few years back.

This is a normal scheduling quirk that happens occasionally. We played at PSU two years in a row ('94, '95), at Wiscy two years in a row ('02, '03), at home against Illinois two years in a row ('94, '95), at home against Iowa two years in a row ('84, '85), and even had a stretch from '78 to '89 against Minnesota where we played two games in a row at home and then two in a row at Minnesota almost the whole time (at Minnesota '78-'79, '84-'85, and '88-'89, and at home '82-'83 and '86-87).

Minnesota

This stadium looks good in person, too. It is definitely on the small side but it was designed for the easy addition of other decks should it ever be necessary.

I am a fan of brick facades such as Doak down at FSU so in my opinion this one is good too.

To the person who said it will all be rain or snow. Obviously we have a lot of snow up here in the tundra but one key difference in comparison to growing up in NEO is that it could be -5 here but the sun will be shining. There are many more sunny days here than in NEO. In fact the lack of clouds is a contributor to the cold up here.

The Big10 schedule rotation occurs next year and it is just the way it worked out between OSU and Minnesota... If that game would have been played @ Minnesota then the Gophers would have 5 home conference games and the Bucks would only have 3. This happens to at least one set of teams each time the team rotation occurs. Ohio State had to play at Wisconsin in 2002 and 2003 because of this.

edit: Mili beat me to it... again! :p

I'm surprised it hasn't happened more often than this. If it were a conference where you play everyone, every year, you'd have to have consecutive seasons of playing a specific team at home or on the road, or you'd be in a rut, as far as the schedule goes. For example, if it's an even year, you play Teams A, C, E, and G at home, and Teams B, D, F, and H on the road. Odd years are the opposite. Then you get crazy jerk fan whining about how Teams A, C, E, and G are all weak opponents, and the tough games are all on the road, and then all hell breaks loose. Ok - maybe that's a bit extreme.

Once upon a time, before Penn State joined the conference, the Big Ten schedule seemed to be the same for 2 years, then it would change and be the same for 2 years, etc. You'd play all the same teams back-to-back years, just flipping the home/away status. Then they'd switch it up and that would happen for 2 more years. It's during that switch-up that teams might play the same team at home in back-to-back years, or away in back-to-back years. I haven't bothered to check to see if the same thing still happens. You'd think that with all the time I've spent writing this, I might have done that, but, no.
